habs
if caufield wanted that contract, pretty sure it would've been done by now
not sure New York accepts, at the end of the day that's basically 4 2nds for a 1st overall pick 3 years removed, imagine someone offering that for slafkovsky in 2 years, we would laugh in their face

habs easily match, not even sure caufield would sign that contract
also Carolina has so many players to sign next summer, they're not giving out any large deals

that doesn't work, if Dubois is dead set on coming to Montreal. replace Hoffman with Dvorak or Armia, and make it Floridas 1st this season, and I probably accept

KAndre Miller Ofersheet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>boilermaker</b></div><div>Everything I read says the Canes need more offense. Instead of offer sheeting Miller, offer sheet Cole Caufield for something in the $10,000,000 range. Carolina has the cap space and picks to do so. That would be entertaining given the past history between Carolina and Montreal.</div></div>
bro, hurricanes need to sign Aho, Necas, Jarvis, Teräväinen, and pesce next summer, you really think giving out a 10 million dollar contract makes sense? the only one I see not coming back id Teräväinen, while Necas and Pesce will make significant raises. Skjei, Martinook, and Drury also due next summer, gotta think at least 2 of those 3 are coming back, each again at a raise, not to mention you basically get rid of 2 1sts and a 2nd at that offer sheet range, meaning no tradeable assets at the deadline for a while, better hope that roster is all you need. caufield Ofersheet aint happening

that Harris trade is so bad, the habs have significant cap coming off the book this summer, we dont need to trade assets just to dump armias contract.

why would Montreal trade what's looking like a top 16 pick and a good prospect for a right shot winger, when they have around a million of them
Also, we dont need beck to be a de la rose 2.0, let him go back to juniors to develop his offensive game a bit more

Deadline
montreal declines
if there is a market for Drouin (doubt there is), Montreal would want futures back, not a 26 turning 27 year old who doesn't fit any team needs. Habs would prefer a 7th over a roster player back lol

habs dont need to do that tbh, there's just no need to swap two prospects like this

Carolina could say yes, but they decided to move Edmundson a few years back, not sure why they trade a 1st to get him back. Depends on how they feel Edmundson makes them a better contender
A Josh Anderson trade occurs during the offseason imo, not deadline

Boeser doesn't fit our timeline at all, beck is looking like an absolute steal for a recently drafted 2nd rounder, not trading him for someone who doesn't fill a need (looks up how many right shot wingers the habs have)

Our main problem right now
you 100% trade the guy
Habs can retain half salary to get good assets in a deal (1st + later round pick + prospect), and Habs cap situation is such a mess, we need to dump significant amounts of salary (Drouin, Dadonov, Monahan, and I see one of Hoffman or Armia being bought out)

Montreal
as a Habs fan, id say no. Fleury really hasn't done much his time in the league, and he's just another stop gap, someone who can play bottom 6 minutes but not be the answer at left defence we need. giving up a 3rd and Danault for a stop gap and a player who has a significant chance of not being as good as Danault is no deal for me

pretty sure all Edmonton was asking for was a 2nd and mediocre prospect for him. a 3rd, an ok prospect, and a bottom 6 roster player should do it I think
but that Nashville trade is an easy no for poise
