Dubas would disagree with "destroying the bottom-6", they still have quite a few pieces. The point of this proposed trade is giving Toronto some inexpensive assets(Simon/Riikola) while giving them the cap space to acquire a RHD they desperately need. Unless they move Nylander instead, 2 of Kapanen/Johnsson/Kerfoot will probably have to go.

there is potential in this trade as dubas could take some of those players and flip them for more value or other trades to better help the team. Still the leafs would probs want marino if they were asking for a penguins defenseman and would probs add dermott to the mix to get him

The leafs RHD next time will be so bad. I agree they won’t accept the trade but don’t think losing Barrie is “addition by subtraction”. He’s still by far their best RHD. ceci stinks though

Sorry you didn't see Barrie play that much as a Leaf. Both coaches refused to play on the PK. He just be depended upon in his own zone. His even strength play was poor. He was OK on the PP but really wasn't that good either. Marner should be the PP right hand point. Holl was the probably the steadiest RHD Leaf last year. Even Ceci was much more dependable defensively that Barrie. Now Ceci was a CapFriendly whipping boy for some reason by all fan bases, mostly because of his contract but I'll maintain that Barrie was the worse Leaf Dman last year.

finally, someone doesn't kill me or burn down a city. thanks, BTW. yeah I know, marino would be perfect for the leafs. if Pittsburgh traded him though, our defence would be really weakened as well. Dermott's nice but still...Pit/ tor isn't the best trade fit all around but nothing's impossible.

Barrie had a down year for sure...last offseason he was the one of the most popular trade chips for many fans ACGMs, mine included...his next contract will take a hit for sure, but I don't think Toronto was a good fit. Ceci has all the tools, he just doesn't put it together.

i mean they have traded before they probs can do it again. Apparently the penguins do have interest in dermott if the interest becomes reality we may see a trade between the 2 in the offseason

You’re right, I didn’t watch Barrie much, but based off his metrics he wasn’t nearly as bad as you suggested. https://public.tableau.com/profile/bill.comeau#!/vizhome/SKATR2019-2020/SKATR

u can blame babcock for that if keefe was coach from day 1 the projection for barrie would have been 10 goals 45 assists, Mostly barries goals get stolen by our tip in specialists

I do love myself, but that's a good thing, the power of positive self image is important.
I also dont think you know what a troll is. A troll is someone who makes terrible comments or posts just to stir up stuff. If you weren't so obviously just out to lunch with the Leafs needs, i might consider this entire post a troll bit.
Someone poking holes in your logic and telling you what their team needs is not trolling, its criticism. Your post is bad, if you want to make better posts in the future without such negative reaction learn from the criticism instead of acting like someone kicked your dog.

I live in Toronto so I hear a TON of leafs stuff. the media and fans were going ballistic about Babcock usage of barrie. I would if I were in the pens front office, Dermott has a lot to offer. He is a LHD(behind Reilly/Muzzin) but Pit has Dumoulin/Petterson so I don't see Dermott's theoretical role increasing in PIT. with GMJR though nothing is impossible. He said Petterson/Marino would potentially be a pair for 10 years, but he's said good things about Jack Johnson(failure)and Derick Brassard(traded) as well so....there are very few untouchables.

well we all know being a leafs fan means that everything you say is wrong, just ask all the people who say dumb things about the leafs and then get leafs fans telling them those things are dumb!

pfft, like anyone here would throw a clean pitch at a leafs fan. Especially Pens fans, all they do is head hunt and complain that the leaf fans are complaining about getting hit in the back with fastballs

I love the bringing back of Kapanen... but would be disappointed to see Simon leave. Again with a guy like Matt Roy thats just to much to pay. You had Joakim Ryan before in a thread (if that was you, don't really remember) and he wasn't a good fit either.

I recommend the Penguins adding a guy like Nathan Beaulieu - Fast on his feet and more of a depth guy. OR even a Chris Tanev if they can afford him on a short term contract.

Check out this thread I made a few weeks ago now!

B.

I realize that as a Leafs fan you accept not winning, but at some point you need to admit your delusions.

I have been trading for Kappy for a while now so I love that, but not crazy about Kerfoot.

Not sure about Roy tho, thats a good question .... He is a sneaky good player but is he playing a lot bc of on a bad team? IMO, he is a really good 3rd pairing guy rite now.

I wouldn't get Kerfoot imo, but if you can shorten the return from the Pens to get Kappy, I'm so down
