Another challenge to make a reasonable trade with every team in a division. Let me know if the trade values are fair. What do you think of the players acquired? Would any of them be a good fit for this team?

I don't think the Preds are interested - sure, Saros had a bad start to the season, but he was one of the best goaltenders in the league after December - he had 5 shutouts in his last 19 games, including 3 in his last 5. And Jarnkrok is more valuable either of the other two players. + Nsh adds multiple picks? Nah. They pass.

What would you do to balance the trade?

Pretty good. I love the Brodin acquisition but you’d probably need to add Joseph/Poulin.

I think CHI would probably accept. The $1M is just for 1 year...they can do that IMO. It's a 1st going back, but also adds a backup goalie that has some promise and a D prospect...and a Hope/prayer that Caufield can convince his brother to stay a Badger...hehehe jk.

You have 23 players leaving and 13 coming in, I'm not sure if this is what you were going for but congratulations you have turned the Penguins into an expansion team.

Avs decline. Value might be close but trade does nothing for the Avs. Lets start with the goalies. 2 starters that may lose jobs to backups. So far equal, now Gru is cheaper and has had the better #s as of late. But Experience means something, Gru may have a ring but he didn't play for it in the end. In the end its a wash, so why make the move? Now Nuke and Simon, 2 LH R wingers, again very similar numbers and roles. No real gains for the Avs and actually, they lose size and net presence. Size has been a problem. Slight disadvantage to Avs. And lastly, OC and the 4th. The value is there, Maybe on the plus side for the Avs, but why? Avs need depth on the right side and you just traded the second in line behind Kaut for that side for a pick that odds say will never make the NHL. Not solid asset management. They don't have to move him for any reason (ie- roster spot, cap space, nothing,). He is in this trade to balance it out, value wise. This is a trade that does nothing to improve the Avs.

In the end. Value probably close. Trade rejected.

I don't see a scenario where NSH trades Saros unless it's an overpayment. As for Jarnkrok, he could be traded but I also find it unlikely since he is well liked by the NSH playersl is on a low money contract, and is a perfect third liner (but can play up and down the line-up when needed rather successfully). They just aren't two players I see NSH actively trying to trade unless they get an offer they can't pass up. Really, I don't see there being many players on the NSH roster that would be of interest to other teams other than Bonino -- so they may not be active in the trade market before next season and will look to free agency to make any adjustments.

All fair points. You both are obviously more knowledgeable regarding the teams in discussion. I completely understand and now agree with your reasoning. This was merely a personal challenge. PIT would have to add more to make a deal more appealing in these theoretical trades. Thanks for your input.

things Avs would want. Murray for Grubi doesnt do anything and Nichushkin and Oconnor are hands down more valuable to the Avs than draft pick and Simon.
