this is literally those armchair GM posts called "team grit" except instead of an online post it's a real NHL roster

Even if Chabot wins the Norris and Stuetzle wins the Calder, this team is still probably the worst in the division.

Yes, I'm sure Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Montreal, And Winnipeg all are shivering in fear because the sens added a 4th liner, 3rd liner, and a 7th defenseman.

That defence is truly putrid. Zaitsev should not be anywhere near top4. This team is a big reason why I want to take offensive players from the North division. Absolute train wreck defensively

Yea, it's still a bad team. Hope for Sens sake their younger players, many who are AHL bound get quality development during this Covid season.
One thing Ottawa has going for it, is that there are seven UFAs, earning 21m in cap on this team. And really not anyone they will really miss in 21/22 Ottawa sure has interesting offseason coming in 2021 with lots of roster spots and lots of cap space.

This team reminds me of the Jets from last year. They were a decent team but had glaring holes.

the only reason they didnt get last was canucks committed to tanking lul. Benning be wanted another Hughes in his lineup

If Demko was in net Canucks would have passed Ottawa but being a part of team tank means Holtby plays

Sure. The Sens finished the season remarkably well from the trade deadline on. They were also an entirely different team from the team the Sens had to start the year, which absolutely was the worst team in the division. They basically replaced half a roster's worth of ****ty do nothing Vets with young talented players. There was one Dman who was in the lineup opening night that was in the lineup to finish the season.

I don't think anyone said anything that wasn't true about the team as it sat on opening night. You can give a lot of credit to the young talent for really elevating the team once they got the reigns, you can even give credit to Dorion for doing an excellent job of cleaning up his messes and bringing in some quality talent mid season (Mete, Forsberg, Bishop, Amadio), but I don't think that makes anyone wrong for saying the ****ty team they opened the season with was ****ty.

Really excited to see where they go from here. There's a LOT to be excited about here, but they definitely need to learn from this season. If they just keep looking for the next Stepan/Gudbranson to fill out "vet leadership" instead of trusting in the young talent they won't take the meaningful step that they could. If they play the offseason right they could easily be a wildcard team next year.

I went back to appologize to a Florida and Minesota fans because they truly exceeded expectations.

Im not appologizing for saying Stephan and Reilly suck.

OTT finished one point away from the division's basement. Nothing to boast about.

It's not a fact at all. Everybody agrees Vancouver is a better team that underacheived. Ottawa's played without pressure, eliminated early, while Vancouver stopped competing after their covid break.

Basing your whole team evaluation on one slim point is ridiculous.

They were 4-3-1 in the 8 games before their final, meaningless, 2nd of a back-to-back last game. Demko started 6 of those 8 games. They weren't tanking.
