There’s also something to be said about the IQ of management. Briesbois learned from the best.

They knew they needed a line with a bit of a bite, to add some more defence and grit but they didn’t go get Ryan reaves or some goons/ 1 dimensional players.

Tampa specifically targeted Coleman (many people expected) and Goodrow (many Sharks fans expected and most people caught on).

They all deploy a gritty game but gritty not by hitting/ fighting but by going into all situations like a wrecking ball when they aren’t that big. They’re just hard on the puck and hound you like dogs. And they all aren’t “soft guys” by any means. They just play that “pest” style of hockey but are good players.

Just a really smart way Tampa built a “sandpaper” line. All 3 guys can play in both ends but outwork almost everyone.

Oh you mean that winning will help them bring in talent, not that you don’t think they have enough talent already. And people not waiving their NTCs to go to Canada is nothing new. The Canadian teams are on the vast majority of the M-NTCs in the NHL.

So Joel Armia is out on COVID protocol and isn’t travelling to Tampa Bay for games 1 & 2. Jake Evans will slot in for him on the 4th line LW. Evans does have the advantage of being a good face off man, but he’s not as good offensively as Armia. He’ll replace Armia on the PK as well.
