There will be plenty of bargain bin bottom 6 guys who can make an impact. Look at spezza. Best 700k guy I have seen. Benning could learn a thing or two as bottom 6 guys dont need 5mill contracts. Dubas and Pridham have navigated the cap just fine and do it again next year. Plus some prospects will be graduating giving new motivation to the team

see there are 2 kinds of leafs fans

the patient fans who want the process to work with the current guys

and the impatient win now trade everyone fans

many of the current stars in the NHL had to be patient. Not everyone had Crosby or Toews luxury of winning quick. Many of todays stars didnt even make the playoffs their first 5 years into the NHL. The leafs made it to soon in my opinion and because of that people expect to much. Would have preferred waiting a year or two but history cannot be changed. This teams core is young, they got prospects who are soon gonna be NHL ready, competent management, and most importantly money . The process will take some time but I got a feeling Matthews and Marner will learn from this and improve.

cause lets be real trading everyone is not the solution. Team chemistry will be hurt and leafs will have to once again go through an adjustment period and thats not good.

Can you not see that there's 12 UFAs (that's >50% of a 23-man-roster), and an RFA, and an expansion draft coming in mere days!

Freddie and Hyman were the only expensive ones. Hyman will be brought back. Freddie's gone and will be replaced by a cheaper alternative. Still not concerned.

OK (all figures are US dollars/not CDN pesos & are rounded for simplicity)

1) Hyman signs for $5Mil - roster is then at 15 players and $70Mil expended team total.
2) Expansion - Lets make it Kerfoot he leads most of the out of town guy posts since Bracco left. So it's -$3.5Mil for sh*ts & giggles = new total is 14 players and $66.5Mil committed.

An NHL roster is 23 (the playing the Marlies to get over the hump experiment by Dubas is 2yrs/3yrs old now and it clearly does not work) - it stops; tonight!

Thus, there is 9 NHL players to find for October 2021 puck drop and current Cap for next yr as per CF is $81.5M (same as 2020-21).
