Wheeler for subban

Created by: Devs17
Team: 2021-22 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 4, 2021
Published: Aug. 4, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
With the moves I think NJ has to load up for the finale of the rebuild. With retaining the contracts of wheeler and subban they can get a good return and bringing in Tatar and Rask that need to prove themselves can be a winning situation for both parties. I think if they’re brought in they’d be willing to chase cups come TDL time. With Tatar I think a winger prospect will be ready by February and Lorentz could slide at 4c and McLeod move to 3c. It’s hard to even guess TDL moves but if Tatar and Rask both rebound in some way shape or form they can be good chips to flip

  1. Wheeler, Blake ($3,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Wheeler played center mainly in the 2019-2020 season and he’s a MN local. At 4.5 it’s a great price for what they need. Also NJ is taking Rasks contract off the book so he practically replaces his cap hit. NJ is eating 9 million so a 20-25 pick plus beckman and O’Rourke doesnt seem like an overpay
3.
NJD
  1. Benson, Tyler [RFA Rights]
  2. Savoie, Carter [Reserve List]
  3. 2022 2nd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
TDL move as Edmonton is most likely right behind VGK in the pacific
EDM
  1. Tatar, Tomas
Additional Details:
Devils Retain what’s needed for Edm
4.
NJD
  1. Lorentz, Steven
  2. Pashin, Alexander [Reserve List]
  3. 2022 3rd round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
TDL move. Maybe Carolina takes a flyer on Rask to bring him back where he played his best hockey at. They could probably work him into their third line.

Carolina do not want any part of Rask. Especially for someone as good as Pashin is. You're maybe looking at a 7th for Rask, IF anything.

winnipeg trades their captain, a good defenseman and a first for a name at this point. I wouldn't even do stanley for subban at this point

The Jets coach, GM and owner love Wheeler. I can't see them trading him or Wheeler waiving his NMC (not a M-NTC until 22-23).

The Oilers are very thin on forward prospects, and LW in particular. Benson is probay going to play in their bottom six this season, although he could be used as a trade chip if Dylan Holloway develops as anticipated and the right deal comes along. Savoie is the kind of pick that Holland likes to hold onto. The 2022 second round pick might be available, but again the trade needs to make sense for Edmonton.

Frankly, I don't think the Oilers are going to have a ton of interest in Tatar as a TDL target. They are more likely to see improved goaltending and a shut-down d-man as their priority needs. Holland also likes to acquire players with a but of term, or at least under team control as a RFA.

I don’t think subban has any real value for any team. Not even at 50% retained. So 0% chance of getting any return for him, let alone something like that from Winnipeg or anything from Minnesota like that for wheeler. Very little of it makes much sense when you factor in subban has no value and other teams all throw around lots of awesome assets, 1st round caliber prospects and 1st round picks for what’s essentially trash offers left and right.

Lol Canes aren’t taking Rask back on. He soured there towards the end of his stint and Canes did well to ship him out. No need for them to take a cap dump back.

Thats a very easy decline from Jets. Quite ugly for them as Wheeler is still a top-notch offense driver, playmaker and leader. You want Wheels, take Subban out of the deal and add Boqvist and a 1st - and thats for JUST Wheeler.

Holland isn't into trading good prospects on rentals. He likes trading seconds thirds and conditional 4ths at the deadline. They would be getting a spare defensemen and a Goalie before anything else.

Sure, wild are going to take on the horrible contract of Blake wheeler, and aging, not good player anyway, in addition to giving up prospects and 1st round pick . What a horrible proposal

Top three worst Jets mock trades I’ve ever seen:
1. Jets trade Ehlers to the Flames for Gaudreau
2. This one
3. Jets trade Josh Morrissey to the blues for Bortuzzo and Scandella

Why would anyone give up ANYTHING for Tatar at the deadline? The last 2 teams he played for Healthy Scratched him in the playoffs. He's a regular season guy only, not a guy a playoff team would be interested in acquiring at the deadline.

I was wondering which one was number 1. I saw 2 and 3, but didn't remember your number one. That is quite a cringe worthy list.grin
