The lost bear and larsson and only brought in Ceci. Barrie was re-signed, not a new acquisition. They are going to go into this season with bouchard on the 3rd pair, which is fine, but there is definitely room for another RHD on this roster

Yes and that’s fine. The Oilers obviously aren’t scrambling for a RHD. But they simply have 0 defenseman on the roster who are at Fox’s level. That is the pure logic for the trade. I’m not saying Edmonton wins the trade, I’m saying they are trading from a position of strength for a position of need

Bouchard is a highend prospect. Holland has said many times that he'll be on the starting roster this fall. He's ready.

This is really really interesting. The only huge problem is that Fox basically forced himself out of two organizations to sign in NY so I can't see him being happy about being sent to Edmonton

Boy if we did this we’d need Lundkvist and Schneider to turn into top 4 d men for sure. We definitely wouldn’t move Trouba cause we’d need him at that point more than ever.

As much as it’d suck. 1C would be locked down and there is plenty of org depth at RD with Trouba, Schneider and Lundkvist long term. But Fox would probably refuse to go. Which is why we need to draw the line when negotiating, you only want the Rangers right, then sign a decent deal and don’t break the bank.

Ideally they wanted Larsson back and to keep bear but that didn't happen. There is no way Bear was a shutdown defender he was absolutely terrible at net front defense. He was too small to stop teams like Winnipeg from crashing the net. You can't keep both Bear and Barrie you had to make a choice both do the same job. Ceci is a placeholder for Evan Bouchard.
