I don't think it's been mentioned here yet, but it looks like Al Sobotka was fired from his job as building operations manager for the Wings yesterday. He's been with the organization for more than 50 years, and there are no more details about the firing (not that I would expect anything else from an Yzerman-run front office). The man who the official Red Wings mascot (Al the Octopus) is named after is now no longer with the organization. Crazy.

Question:

With Kase being on LTIR and Muzzin back today in a non contact jersey the make up of the Leafs lineup is interesting. Obviously there's a lot of moving pieces with the injury status of Muzzin, Sandin, and now Lybushkin but say they all come back or at least 2 of them come back before Kase do you guys think the Leafs consider dressing 7 D? I'm not a huge fan of the concept but to me I'd rather Sandin/Liljegren, etc. over Simmonds or Clifford. I suppose it depends how Abruzzeze and Knies fit in and if they are ready, but as it stands right now I think the 7th D for the Leafs could have a much larger impact on thegame then their 12th forward.

Question

Should Flyers hire John Tortorella?

I think they need a serious wake up call as a team because on paper that roster is not this bad they've been playing for last couple of years.

I think Torts could be a fantastic guy to do that. Plus now that Giroux is out a some sort of culture change might have a place for it.

I don't think Torts has much to offer this sport as it is, but seeing what happened in CGY after they hired another old coach in Sutter, I think Flyers have very little to lose here.

Flyers get Matthew Savoie straight into the lineup. Sign Gaudreau and get ready to roll

Those two won't change anything with the culture though, and as said before that team on paper is not this bad.

I think he'd be a great option for them, especially as a team that lacks a true superstar (which Torts has been accused of mishandling in the past). Plus, it's not like there's many other options out there that could have the same effect. Hiring another decent but unremarkable coach wouldn't take the Flyers anywhere. Hiring Tortorella has its risks, but there's no reason for a team like the Flyers to play it safe when they've already laid their future on the line for a team that isn't producing.

By the way I can’t pass up the opportunity to post this gem whenever Torts is mentioned:

Also this is my 2000th post it's been great being a member of this community for nearly 9 months rock on

I could see the Pens signing klingberg and trading Marino for Savard

earlier, your user flair was "Little Weekend"

then it was "Little TDL"

now it's just "little"

will it devolve into "lil" soon enough

I'm planning on getting it all the way down to l, growing into L when the Wings lose their last game of the season, and then becoming Loui Weekend when Loui Eriksson's birthday comes around in July.

How does someone control that. Or is it impossible

At that speed it's nearly impossible. The best thing if you're going into the boards, is lifting your feet up, so your butt hits the boards. Hands wouldn't stop you there, and a person would much rather crash in with their feet rather than their head. So nothing keller could've controlled over there.
