Red Wings are looking for stop gap LD until Edvinsson, Johansson and Wallinder are NHL ready. Edvinsson will most likely be on the Red Wings next season. Muzzin is aging and his body is breaking down. Why would he waive his NTC for a rebuilding team like Detroit? Red Wings have better options to trade for like Martinez, Pettersson and Schmidt.

I think DET are in the market for a LHD this offseason based off of what I read on other posts. Not sure if Muzz is their preferred target, Martinez seems to be a favorite on here.

Muzz's NTC is what needs to be taken into consideration first. Who knows who is on that list of teams he wouldn't be traded to. Value seems alright, I guess. I would prefer not to retain.

Don't think CBJ makes that deal, I'd prefer not to move Engvall anyway.

I'm not going to provide comment on Mrazek, it's been beaten to death on here.

Jake Muzzin has 2 years left on his deal and is a good veteran that can help the young players. he has won a cup and could get some trade value in a no pressure team/fanbase.

Just to add to this. I don't think Muzzin waives and I also don't think he's necessarily a target for the Wings. I think he definitely has some value and if the Leafs were to try and trade him there would be teams willing to take a chance on him bouncing back. I would strongly argue that the Leafs are not in the market to retain salary on ANY trade they make. The cap room is far too valuable.

Also, given Sandin has been injurred and how good Lil has looked, I think you're resigning Sandin too high and Lil too low.

CBJ declines, they already have a plethora of forwards and Engvall is not worth a 2nd round pick

It's a horrid trade for Detroit. You have to know that Muzzin isn't good value at 5.6m. Similar is the Buffalo trade. Mrzarek and Holl aren't worth 5.8m, never mid Sabres giving up picks to acquire those guys. Trading bad cap and expecting non bad cap in return.....those trades aren't happening .

With the Muzzin deal, beyond the NTC issue, I would say Toronto wouldn't need to retain. Detroit has ample cap space to take him on (if they wanted him) so it's just kind of a hat on a hat there. That being said, I think there's plenty of veteran LHD out there for Detroit to sign or trade for at a lower cost if they want guys to mentor their young D corps.

Mrazek's a buyout. I said it the other day - Buffalo has had to play 6 goalies this season and 5 of them have better save percentages than Mrazek. The only one with a worse number than him is Malcolm Subban, who played one of his four games with a season-ending injury because UPL also got hurt in that game. The Sabres would rather roll with their mishmash of journeyman goalies than spend picks and cap space to acquire Mrazek. I could maaaayyyyyybe see them getting Holl as a veteran for the D corps if they let Colin Miller walk.

I'd take muzzin if I thought he could hold up for 70+ games a season but I'm just not sure he is.
