So the Habs should take on an extra 1.375 million per year for 3 years for free? Because White isnt 1.375 million x 3 better than Armia

Personally, I am a big fan of Pinto, but the Canes don’t make that trade. They already have enough Centers in the pipeline already, and he would just get sent down to Chicago and won’t really get a chance for a few years barring injuries. Plus, DeAngelo isn’t being traded at all, and without an overpay in a position that the Canes need, meaning LW prospects, he would be better off staying in Carolina. I think a deal might be able to be reached around Formenton and Thomson, but I highly doubt that Ottawa would do that. TDA has already broken the Canes franchise single season points record by a dman. He has been a huge part of the Canes this season, and they don’t want to lose him, at least for now, and acquiring him won’t be cheap.

Buffalo doesn't want your cap dumps. Neither does Isles when you include Armia. Of course the Armia/White trade doesn't happen because White is bigger dump than Armia.

If Carolina needs cap, they might do that trade. My thought why trade a cost efficient centre that might have a high ceiling.

That’s Tampa’s 2nd, it’s pretty much a 3rd. Make it Ottawa’s 2nd

Not a lot of reasons for the Isles to do that - Brown is probably about equal to Beauvillier in production, and while he's a little cheaper($3.6M vs. $4.15M), he's also older and only signed for one year, instead of 2. I don't think I make that trade one-for-one, much less take on 3x$3.4M of Joel Armia and a pick that probably clocks in somewhere around 85th overall to do it.

IMO most Sabre ACGM's would hate the deal.
When Mike Bales was Murray's GK coach Matt had his best years, maybe his fortunes could be turned around.
While Zaitsev is not a top 2 RHD he does hit and block shots and could be Buffalo's 2nd RHD but certainly 3rd.
Dahlin-Jokiharju
Power-Zaitsev
Samuelsson-?? maybe Pysyk or even Miller
I would make this trade as Murray is an upgrade over Tokarski/Anderson while he would be a good back up to Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen.
Zaitsev is over paid but Buffalo has cap space to spare.
I would never presume this trade would make the Sabres a playoff team but, it is an improvement over 2021-'22.
That second round pick would be 39th OA, giving Buffalo 5 picks among the top 41 in the upcoming draft.
Let's agree to disagree, I think both would fit into the line up and a decent pick is added.

- Not trading Pinto
- White for Armia is bad for Ottawa, would much rather buy him out
- Doubt Buffalo would make this, for just a 2nd. That is pretty risky with Murray health constantly in jeopardy
- Also not really interested in the NYI trade. Ottawa lacks QUALITY veterans. Not trading the only one they have lol

Beauvillier is 3 years younger but outside of that...

Brown's PPG the last 3 seasons : 0.61, 0.63, 0.61
Beauvillier's PPG the last 3 seasons : 0.57, 0.60, 0.45

Beauvillier relies more on the PP to produce. 86% of Brown's point in Ottawa came at ES or PK. He's also a top PKer and pretty good defensively. His non-stop motor, flawless work ethic and plus skating makes him very useful in all situations. He's mostly used in defensive matchups but still produces at a 50 pts pace facing top competition. He was 2nd in takeaways last season and voted 17th for the Selke. He's one of the most underrated forwards in the NHL

I love Beauvillier but would much rather have Brown.

Murray would be an upgrade over a lot of goalies... but he just can't stay healthy. he has been one of the most injured players for years now. And at least 4-5 concussions

I'm surprised if he gets cleared for contact at this point. This is most likely a LTIR contract

That was worded poorly on my part - was trying to say that Brown has a lower AAV but is older than Beau by a couple years.

I think there definitely could be a basis to build a package around Beau for Brown, but OP here is sending 3 years of Joel Armia and a late 3rd rounder - that's a total non-starter of a deal IMO.

Sens need to keep Brown (unless his extension demands were ridiculous but I think he'll ask 5 x 5.0 AAV)

I'd love to get Beauvillier but ain't a fit right now

They need a high end Top-6 Winger and that's it

Tkachuk - Norris - ????????
???????? - Stutzle - Batherson
Formenton - Pinto - ????????
Kelly - Kastelic - Watson

Mathieu Joseph
Connor Brown
Ridly Greig
Colin White
7th OA pick in 2022?
Etc

I guess Beauvillier could be 3rd line RW but that's also the spot where I want to see Brown. Lateral movement at best, I'd take Brown's overall game impact and PK excellence

Sens don't need to "get younger", they are young enough! lol

You get the younger, higher upside player.

If you dont think its worth the risk fine, but OTT would never pay to decrease player quality and increase age when OTT is still rebuilding and nowhere near cap hell
