Ngl the McLean explanation helped BUT I want to see that same play 1000 more times in 1000 more games and see how consistent the league is with calling it onside.
If players are gonna start using the short chip instead of the long dump on a delayed offside, how many times are human refs going to make that call right? Offside reviews are already super controversial and border on not in the nature of the sport. If we're seeing the next "evolution" in possession plays in the league, they need to put sensors in the puck, the bluelines and probably the toes of skaters and take a giant leap towards autonomous offside reffing. The game is already so fast and if players are going to make high-speed, short distance plays, we need something more precise than four morons on skates to keep track of the calls.
