Bottom 4 are Arizona, Chicago, Montreal, and Philadelphia. Top 4 are Colorado, Calgary, Carolina, and Toronto (with the caveats that Toronto needs to get a decent goaltender and Calgary needs to bring all their free agents back, but we don’t have clarity on that yet).

Quoting: DirtyDangle
top 4
colorado
vegas
carolina
tampa

bottom 4
chicago
arizona
montreal
columbus

I really can't see Montreal being a bottom 4 team. Bottom 10 sure, but unless we completely tank I can't see us being that bad.

Bottom 4
Arizona
Chicago
Seattle
Boston (might as well be bold)

Top 4
Tampa
Florida
Colorado
Vegas

In no particular order.
Bottom 4: Yotes, Hawks, Ducks, Habs
Final 4: Avs, Oilers, Panthers, Canes

Quoting: justaBoss
Top: Toronto, Vegas, Carolina, Colorado

Bottom: Arizona, Chicago, Seattle, Buffalo

I would go,
Top 4,
Tampa - Carolina (Really wanted to pick Ottowa if they can get a GK.)
Colorado - Edmonton? (Vegas is the wildcard)

Bottom 4,
Arizona, Chicago, Anaheim and Colombus. (Close teams are Montreal, San Jose, Seattle?)

I'll let your active rostered GK fight me.

Oh shoot, there isn't 1.

Caps fooked up, he is not there yet but I think Sammy will eventually be a top 5-10 goalie in the league.

GMBM had a master plan of King Henrik mentoring him and molding him into the next franchise goalie, it could not have worked out any worse.

Didn't Sandin say he didn't want to stay in Toronto because he wasn't getting enough opportunity?
Plus he would be way too expensive now after Murray trade

2 months, sure. How about the last 3 years though? Campbell has been quite a bit better, and paying an extra 500k to keep him would have been way smarter.

but for 3 or 4 more years on the contract it probably wasnt worth it. realistically murray represented one of the highest ceilings available with a short term deal. Keumper or campbell might be better goalies, but can the leafs really commit 5 or 6 years to a goalie at like 5 or 6 million? probably not.

like campbell and kuemper might be better in the short run but why sell-out the potential future 7 years of the team to try and win now? Like no offense to leafs fans i think they have a good team but i really really dont think they're only a goalie away right now. The leafs have a great pipeline of prospects who look like they can make a difference and contribute for cheap and in the near future, matthews, marner and nylander are all 26 and under. There was no sense in potentially bogging down the future 5-6 years with a high $ goalie contract when the future ceiling of the team has the potential to be way higher. Could they have gotten him for a cheaper cap hit? yeah absolutely, but like fit & upside wise he was honestly the best option

Then I'm sure he wouldn't match. Toronto's not in a position to be offering players what they're worth (as unfortunate as that sounds)

He inherited the best leafs team ever constructed and did nothing with it you mean

He didn’t inherit sh*t lol, there are only 5 players from the 17-18 roster (last Lou year) still on the team, and one of them is Justin Holl. This is unquestionably his team at this point and pretending otherwise is kidding yourself.

Kuokkanen wouldn't have made the roster but I would have figured he has at least some value on the trade market

Through all the Dubas quagmire, there is still only 17-NHL players currently ready, in a 23-player league, w/ ~ US$6.4M cap left...

So it's yet another year of filling gargantuan holes w/ old-fossils, grey-beard grunts, AHL-ECHLer calibre league minimum press-boxers, and 24-beer beer leaguers; which is not a "Stanley" recipe!

It's Slapshot!

The leafs are on winnow mode. I like Murray’s upside, and I think for certain teams this would have been good trade, but this has way to much risk for a contending team. While this could turn out to be a smart move, it could also turn out to be a complete dumpster fire, and Campbell and Kuemper would not turn into a dumpster fire until at least a couple of years.

? He inherited crap. There’s actual arguments that Dubas sucks so of all things I’m not sure why you brought this up.

i really dont think theyre in win-now mode though, like if they were they would be trading big futures for good players on retained deals. I think theyre in compete now mode for sure, but they need some of their younger players to take on bigger roles (Sandin, liljegren, robertson, even knies and neimela & hirvonen) before I really think theyre in win-now mode. Like again i really like their team matthews and marner are 2 of the leagues best, but to me they really need that john tavares contract off the books before theyre a real win-now team and that only happens down the line
