I think if you get Kane at 50% retained, for Gurianov and Khodobin + then send guys who aren't in the NHL down you should have around 12M left to sign Otter and Robertson

WOAH. Unless they absolutely fleece the Blackhawks (which is entirely possible, given how CHI's offseason has gone), don't see how they'd have the cap space for Kane+Otter+Robertson.

DAL with Kane

Not sure how I would run the bottom 6.

I feel Kane wont be traded till the TDL as 3-way trades are more common then and having him at 2.625mill is easier than at 5-6mill

Let’s face it Dallas Eakins will ruin his value by the end of the season if they don’t fire him right now

Friedman mentions that many people believe Noah Dobson is already signed. Colorado, isles, red wings and Flames all interested in Kadri. No “deal in the drawer” with the isles as of now

Friedman said that Huberdeau would have gotten around what Barkov signed for (10 mill x 8) and Weegar similar to sergachev (8.5 x8) . Mentioned age was a factor in acquiring Tkachuk.

Why is Lamoriello so tight-lipped about giving away information even when it's already done? The guy gives out less info about what the Isles are doing than Christopher Nolan does about his films.

I don’t know but I think it’s incredibly stupid. Rarely talks to the media, won’t announce contracts. Good way to make fans cancel their season ticket plans .

The Huberdeau estimate sounds right, the Weegar deal (much like Sergachev) would've been too much.

I would rather give Weegar 8.5 x 8 than Huberdeau 10 mill x 8

Really? Weegar's only a year younger than Huberdeau, and (despite being quite good) doesn't bring nearly as much to the table as Huberedeau does IMO.

I’ll take a #1 defenseman over a winger any day. Huberdeau is great but he creates most of his offense off the rush and I wonder how much longer he’ll be able to do that at a high level

Maybe it's because I mainly see him in the Lightning games, but I think Weegar is just a touch overrated-don't get me wrong, he's still a very good blue-liner, but you don't see Makar/Hedman/Josi/Fox/Ekblad etc. making mistakes like this (0:10):

I have seen Hedman and Fox (this years playoffs) make worse plays. You would think Devon Toews is a decent top 4 defenseman if you only watched him play against Tampa in the playoffs.

Weegar’s great, but 8x8.5 is crazy at this point. I was thinking 6x6.5-7.

Yeah but the Isles bought 50k worth of tickets for that 1.2 billion dollar lottery and plan to pay out season ticket holders if they win, so beat that

Fair point, but those are plays where Hedman/Fox just got plain deked (which happens to every defenseman, from Hedman to Fox to Toews to Reilly (at the hands of McDavid) to Ekblad (at the hands of Kucherov)). The Weegar play was a boneheaded IQ moment.

I think Devon Toews is arguably the smartest defenseman in the game , and he’s made multiple bonehead plays. It happens, it justs gets magnified at times because they are held to a high standard.

Mastermind Lou

He traded Devon Toews to Colorado so they won’t be able to afford Kadri, instead the Islanders are gonna sign him

That would be hilarious if true, because Toews > Kadri by a country mile

At least 5 mill, Dobson’s contract alone will be in the 5.5-7 mill range

Colorado would have an easier time signing him than the isles. The Isles have to move out at least two players to sign him.
