If you aren’t tuned into the Latvia game; you need to (I know I regret missing a chunk of the game).

1-1 after two, with STRONG Latvian play. Final 20 upcoming.

Othmann has 6 points in 3 games and has been Canada’s 3rd or 4th best forward so far, but let’s put him on the 4th line and slot the guy who got ejected on the top line instead

I'd try
Greig - Mctavish - Bedard
Othmann - Johnson - Stankoven
Roy - Forester -Dufour
Cuylle - Ostapchuk -Desnoyer

That would make sense though, so they couldn’t possibly do that lol. Getting real “Brett Ritchie on Johnny Gaudreau’s other wing” vibes from this lineup change. Taking Othmann off a scoring line and throwing a bang and crasher over his head isn’t gonna do anything. Now teams can just zero in on Bedard and McTavish more easily. If you really want to inject some energy onto that line, it has to be someone with skill like Greig or even Dufour.

WOAH, a 2-1 final?! Feel for the Latvians, that's a heck of a job against a far superior Sweden team. MUCH closer game than I was expecting.

Hirovinen-Raty-Kemell is such a fun line to watch

Kind of reminds me of Chucky-Dvorak-Marner as everyone brings something different that complements the other guy

Every time I roast a player, they prove me wrong (except Comeau, he just disappears from the planet). Stankoven is playing really good today, just like I knew he could.

On a related note, the IIHF has determined the groupings for the 2023 WJC (Group A will play at Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, NS, and Group B will play at Avenir Centre in Moncton, NB).

Group A (Halifax): Canada, Sweden, Czechia, Germany, Austria
Group B (Moncton): United States, Finland, Switzerland, Slovakia, Latvia

Was watching WJ and honestly I forgot Russia wasnt there

And this brings up an interesting question

Whats gonna happen with Michkov heck even TSN was talking about it tonight during CAN vs. SWITZ as with the Ukraine situation and Russia being bared from international play does he still go 2nd or 3rd OA. Honestly now that I think about it idk but from what we saw last year would not surprise me if he goes later in the first unless things settle and Russia is allowed to play again

Yeah, they just were discussing it. It's just bizarre how you can have a consensus 2nd-best player in the draft who might actually plummet because of 1) his country's instability/idiocy/cruelty, and 2) he's under contract through '25 (or maybe '26?).

I believe so but still with the talent he has a team just starting a rebuild and getting a top 3 pick (Chicago) would probs have loved him. Now idk with the whole outside hockey situation what now. Does he go later in the first. Still go top 5. Man its gonna be interesting as with scouts having limits in Russia its gonna be tricky to track progress for him or any Russians for 2023 playing in MHL, KHL, etc.
