I bet Seattle put in a claim on him too. Wouldn’t be shocked to see him flipped though, he’s likely a serviceable backup, unlike Gillies, Johansson, Korenar, Prosvetov, etc.

How did an NHL team think we should put a waiver claim on Jared FRICKIN Tinordi but not Emil Bemstrom

Edit: Claimed players were Ingram, AJF, Brett Leason, Josh Mahura and Jared Tinordi

I’ve been saying Hockey Canada is incompetent for years, even before all the sexual assault stuff, based on the decisions they make and lack of proactive development of the next generation of stars. A complete overhaul is necessary for hockey related purposes as well, although the cover-up stuff is obviously the larger and more important reason.

Ty Smith assigned to WBS hahaha. Marino>Smith by a mile. At least for PIT, he's still on an ELC. Defensemen must be able to defend in this league. Ty Smith is soft.

It's brought up a ton whenever a offensive defenseman looks blind in his own zone but would you consider Smith a "convert to winger" candidate?

Smith is simply going down until Pittsburgh can trade POJ. He's made the team 100%. Just need to make some moves so Pittsburgh doesn't lose anyone on waivers.

He still hasn't figured out how to defend odd-man rushes. He hasn't won a puck battle in the corner yet in his career. But, he's immensely talented offensively and he's a good skater. You just can't teach physicality and will. He probably should've been a Winger all along, but I doubt he'll make the transition at this stage.

That's what I thought initially, but why not just waive POJ? Does he have any trade value?

Smith made the team and his upside is much higher than Marino. Marino is a solid #4 who has regressed over the past few years. Smith will likely be a #2 offensive defenseman and under an elite coach like Sullivan he will at least be competent defensively.

Thats news worthy as honestly when was the last time we saw that

As every ****ing time we waived someone last year it almost always = claim

Hopefully the same goes for leason. We need semi full time nhlers to be Insurance for injuries with this aging core

If McAvoy and Grelz are out, other than Hampus which defender can play PP? Was baffled with Mike Reilly waiwing.
Is it a way to get cap compliant before the season starts to benefit from LTIR?

Or is he actually gone. I thought he was decent last season.

yea, that one is crazy. the fact that no one picked him up either is crazy to me...like he was decent last year and definitely would be a good option on most bottom pairs.
