I think Samsonov gets a fair bit of leash: he's the better half of Dubas' gamble this summer. If he was ever going to cement himself as the bonafide 1A on this team, there's no better time than now.

EDIT: furthermore, the financials are far too complex this early in the season for the Leafs to go out and pull something akin to a Reimer acquisition without paying out the nose for it. If by the time Murray is eligible to come off LTIR Dubas is dissatisfied with Samsonov's numbers, you make the call then.

On top of this, I'd beg the community as a whole to recognize that every damn one of these situations are different and usually a lot more complex than x-did-y to somebody. Please refrain from using this case against other victims who come forward, it's not their fault that this was (so far) a false claim.

Regarding Ian Cole: The NHL did their due diligence on this but the major hindrance was the victim not coming forward or co-operating. There's a chance that the victim is distrustful of the NHL or feels intimidated to provide any further information or cooperation. It's very difficult to gather a comprehensive profile of these situations in the first place and often times the victim needs to be questioned thoroughly and faces massive scrutiny over minor details or events. Almost always, the victims in these cases rarely receive any substantial benefit to coming forward, especially if the perpetrator is a public figure.

I always believe that the victims in these cases deserve the benefit of the doubt, even if this individual case turns out to be false.

I think Toronto is going forward with Kallgren as backup unless another goaltender ends up getting too invested in the splits.

If they trade for a goalie, I think Kerfoot has to go the other way. A two game sample but he hasn't been very impressive and clearing the 3.5 million would allow Marlies to be called up. Robertson not being in the NHL is entirely a consequence of the salary cap.
