Time to start fixing this

Created by: Boldirev
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 21, 2022
Published: Oct. 21, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Jersey pays a premium, but gets a franchise goalie in his prime and two of the best three players in this trade.
Horvat fits in Detroit and signs an extension.
Raty and a 1st for Miller, Bailey is just to balance the cap, could be anyone.
Zaitsev is a pure cap dump and gets a second and JBD to take him, with Burroughs as a cheap depth piece going back.
Myers with max retention fits as a third pairing D in Nashville.
All the 1sts are top 5 protected, but that likely won't come into play.

Demko is awesome but nj isn't doing that I'd think.

Bratt, Vanecek, Haula = Demko, Pearson, Garland

Nemec, 1st = Ferland

Seems legit

All these trades are heavily in favour of Vancouver; none of them are accepted by the other team

It would take a 1st just to dump miller on the isles. They aren’t trading their top prospect for him

Yzerman isn't trading 1st round picks. Detroit declines.

Don't want to crush your dreams but maybe you should start forgetting about getting that kind of ransom for Zaitsev...

He's not a problem anymore. They can just use him this season like they used Del Zotto last year. His salary this season is only $2,500,000 (Del Zotto was $1,750,000 last season)

No need to sacrifice any pick to dump the last year of his contract...

And with the possibility that the cap goes up by 4 M$, he will most likely just be bought out

The BUYOUT COST is $1,666,667, spread over 2 years too. Very cheap.

$2,833,334 in cap hit for the 1st season, $833,334 for the 2nd year.

While I think that trade is in favour of the Canucks, Bratt, Vanacek, and Haula doesn’t equal Demko, Garland, and Pearson

No thanks, you signed him, he's yours, no takebacks.

Also, trading a player 8 months *before* the big extension you signed him to is surely going to solidify your team as a premier free agent destination, I bet.

Bratt and Demko are comparable in value. Haula a little more valuable than Pearson, Garland is good amount more valuable than Vanecek. So as a 3-for-3 it probably favors Vancouver. Add Ferland, and it’s close to a wash.

Then we add Nemec and 1st round pick? Just simplify as Demko for Nemec or Demko for Bratt. Throw in Pearson and Vanecek to balance out lineups. Something like that.

Because of contract situations I’d say Demko has more value than Bratt. Franchise goalie on a great contract > great winger needing a contract after the season

Also your explanation of the 3 pieces for 3 pieces and then saying it favours the Canucks doesn’t make sense

Demko = Bratt
Pearson < Haula
Garland >> Vanacek

That would favour the Devils no?

Yes, I meant it favors the Canucks side.

But look at the debate here. We are discussing whether HALF the Devils package is worth the ENTIRE Canucks package. It is very long ways off.

Detroit doesn't need Horvat, We have Kasper coming up as early as next season. And Yzerman already said that 2023 picks aren't on the table.

It doesn’t take long for someone’s reputation to take a hit - he already had to answer questions about his play. Why would his value still be high when he’ll be 30 years old starting a 7 year contract

I wouldn't see it as a huge deal if he had a 7.0 x 7 years deal instead, not all players become crap into their 30's and I think Miller will be a fine player until at least 35
