If Horvat would agree to a decent extension then sure I'd do it.

Are you a caps fan or a devils fan? I like Demko a lot but I don’t think he’s worth that package at this time. Especially when VV has been playing great. Drop the 1st and replace it with a 2024 3rd or 2nd and I am way more interested in acquiring Demko.

I’m a caps fan but Vv isn’t a consistent goalie. He does done this with us before and then has looked like garbage. Demko isn’t playing well rn yes but it might be just a tough start

Detroit declines. We're not trading for rentals, not giving up 1st round picks, and don't need LD.

Interesting incite. For our sakes I hope you’re wrong about VV but I remember the past 2 years not being impressed much by him haha

The value itself is fine, but Detroit is not trading 1st round picks. Especially in this draft.

VV is fine, but he's basically a league average goalie. The Devs are absolutely controlling play this year, so he's only facing 25.5 shots/60 mins. It's soooo early in the year right now, but according to hockey-reference, the Devils have had one of the easiest schedules in the league so far (Again though, they look f*ckin' great!).

If I were a Devs fan, I don't think I'd have any issue with that package. Demko is outstanding...realistically, Bahl is depth-y at best (Maybe he hits his stride, but I can't imagine him being much more than a career bottom pairing guy), Blackwood needs a change of scenery, who knows when Shak is coming (I love him though...), and if you keep this up, the 1st is in the mid-late 20's anyway.

No problem, just play him in the top 6 and all of the sudden he'll be a top 6 forward!

We are "hopefully" coming out of having one of the all time best in Brodeur and then seeing the other side of it almost since he left (Corey was great-team stunk). VV has been great after 1st clunker. Demko is a great get but not at that price. Maybe 3 of those pieces, not four and that 1st this year will be protected to some degree. With Benier getting reinjured and MackBlack being a month away, the bigger challenge is keeping V healthy and see if we need to fill the gap with a Reimer type guy. We leaned on the young Gs and it wasnt great for their development last year. Only 3 back to backs between now and end of year so maybe we are good. Roughly a game every other night and not a ton of travel. Hope you're wrong on VV but you have def seen more of him they we have

Do you think though? I don't know...I don't think they're a playoff team (yet), but I'd say they'll be battling for a wildcard through the deadline though...

I'd say that you're significantly better off than the teams that I have in my bottom 10 (in no particular order): Anaheim, Arizona, Columbus, Ottawa, SJ, Van, Chicago, MTL, STL & Philly (yayaya, Torts...I don't think that's sustainable though). I don't think Buffalo ends up bottom 10, but I'd have you above them, Minny, and potentially even Pittsburgh as well. Heck, even LA, though they could turn it on here one of these days.

Tough to make the playoffs in that division, but I don't see you guys bottoming out that hard.

Lots of "no" from non Vancouver teams. OEL, Ducks may not even want his contract if the Canucks, "gifted" him. And you want a firs?. Horvat has no value to a team that likely isn't making the playoffs, and no silly extension talk. Boston. Jersey, Flames...no also,

The Calgary game last night would beg to differ, Calgary was in control of the game for the vast majority of the night, VV is the reason they won. VV is also only 26 years old, that's really just hitting your stride in goalie years. I picked up VV in my fantasy team, and I drafted Markstrom, guess who I sat last night?

Maybe if they drop our third and retain down to 6 million it might be worth looking into, but anything short of that probably not.

I've said this a few times today regarding Jake Allen's big night yesterday...league average goalies will absolutely steal you a game here and there...but they'll also cost you just as many over the run of the season.

I'm certainly not saying that Vanecek isn't good, but I'm taking the 78 game sample size from Washington every day of the week right now as the far better example of who he is as a goalie, rather than a 6 start sample where he's played reasonably well but hasn't faced much in the way of competition.
