Fontaine is untouchable. That's an elite level name. It would take at least one Angus Crookshank to get Fontaine.

I’d want Maximus Wanner back from Edmonton for a Fontaine trade to happen

Because he is. I'm gonna assume you, like most people, are basing your opinion of him on this year while not applying any context to the advanced stats you're probably reading about him. Gavrikov is a good 2LD that is being put in the position where he has to play Zach Werenski's 1LD role while having nothing but 3rd pairing or AHL level defensemen for partners and half a lineup of AHL or rookie forwards. We're seeing this year that he's not exactly great at playing that role, but when he gets to play 2LD he's still very good as can be seen by how he looked last season while Werenski was healthy. Whoever acquires him will be inserting him back into the kind of role he excels in with a competent defensive partner and they will almost certainly see a significant improvement in his statistics compared to what he has shown so far this year. This sentiment has been expressed by NHL scouts that have been asked about Gavrikov, but I'm sure they don't really know what they're talking about compared to brilliant analysts like Dom Luszczyszyn.

Nashville accepts, until they realize they made an Asplund of themselves thinking they were trading for the other Rasmus...

I've watched Gavrikov play a number of times in previous seasons. He seems to be an ok stay-at-home defenseman. One of those guys that is doing a good job when you don't hear his name. However, much like Rob Scuderi when he played on LA's cup team, he's much better suited to a 3rd pair on a good team. However, he's never played on a good team before, so he's getting penciled in in a spot above his capability, and the team is not doing well as a result.

If you're a contender and you have him on your 3rd pair, you're probably content with his services. He's not a good top four defenseman, and I can't believe anyone would give up a 1st round pick for him as a rental. I definitely don't want him on the Kings.

I imagine we’d have to add a pick

Gavrikov isn’t a top4 guy though for us imo
Not YET anyways
But for that price, he can play LD3 & take his time developing
I’m sure we’d have to add though

Also,
Power is on the left according to the pregame show,
& Samuelsson is on the right side

I certainly wouldn't describe him as stay at home. When he's playing within his range he's a pretty dynamic puck carrier and was making repeated trips up the ice and generating a lot of offense last year. He's not some defenseman that just fades into the background. He's involved in the offense, he blocks tons of shots, he has spent more time killing penalties than almost any defenseman in the league over the last 3 years, he's just a very solid defenseman. You clearly haven't watched enough of his game to have a properly formed view of what he brings. I'm not surprised, most people openly admit that they don't think about or watch the Blue Jackets. For some reason everyone's an expert though when one of their players is in the media though. It's a strange phenomenon.

When did he say this?

He didn't. He was talking about possible targets in a deal. If you took his suggestions of possibilities at face value, then at minimum it'd be Portillo + Ostlund + picks.

I don't see it.

Even this article written by a Blue Jackets follower describes him as stay-at-home.

Dunno what to tell you, but that guy is wrong. He was not stay at home at all last year. He was constantly in on rushes up the ice and pinching in from the point for scoring chances. I'm going through highlights of him scoring right now and they're all goals scored while pinching or joining in on the rush. Werenski, Gavrikov and Boqvist were all getting the green light to be as offensive as they wanted last year.

We're getting embarrassed tonight. Two goals, three posts, three breakaways, and no shots in the first ten minutes or more. We look like an AHL team up against you guys.

I’ve only been casually paying attention

Tough to take much away from the game, as we’re just killing them
Definitely something to keep an eye on going forward

Doesn’t really matter who is on which side though, as long as Power-Samuelsson works
Bc we already know Dahlin can play either side with just about anyone

Yeah, it really could be 5-0 right now
Ducks need to complete the tear down & collect as many picks as they can to get this rebuild moving in the right direction

Id pass on this. Would look for Savoie over Ostlund as we need a center prospect. Could remove the second to make that swap work
