Purely a cap clearing move for LA. Let see what they do with it.

Flyers get a similar player and a pick. Win to Philly in my book.

Neither guy is that good; PHI wins by default by virtue of the 5th.

Marginal win for Flyers, but I'll take it.

Similar playing styles, but ZM is bigger and nastier, playoff depth wise LA improves.

Thank god we moved a player with no future in our franchise and got a draft pick. Finally. A future asset. Not many 5th rounders pan out but at least it’s a chance.

Useful move for LA, acquiring a depth player and saving about $400,000 in cap. I'm happy with this.

There's not much of a difference in their cap hits.

Edit: Not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying, I kind of doubt it.
Edit 2: Okay, I guess they might be trying to get a player with a big cap hit and just needed a bit more cap space.

I don't get it, but that's probably just me not understanding NHL salary cap stuff lol

My reasoning is if LA sent Lemieux down, he would had still count for 425k on the cap. If you send a 925k player down, it's zero.

I like the deal for the Flyers. MacEwen was a heart and soul guy but to get a 5th is good value and on top of that they got a UFA who is better imo, maybe a tryout for next season who knows

Gives Lemieux another chance to take a bite out of the Senators later this month.

If it were an even swap for the players, I would call it a fair trade. The draft pick puts Philly over the top.

MacEwen for Lemieux might be fair.

Adding the draft pick is not.

Flyers win the trade.
