Description
Connor Bedard/Fantilli with #1/2

Dvorsky (#8)

The idea is to capitalize on the teams that were more or less quiet at the deadline. The odds are that if the Blackhawks make all of their second round picks this year the chances of them getting a bunch of impact players is well not great. Might as well package the assets together to increase the chance of getting higher quality players.

? its moving 4 spots. Yager is falling and seems to be a top target for the Habs, you could still get him

I saw the wrong one but value is around the same. Look at the Coyotes trade up last year, it was around this same price. I don't think the Habs would accept, but it is still worth considering for sure

Yeah, it's a ton to move up for sure and it'll probably need to be exceeded for these guys specifically too.

i think with the talent of this draft compared to the last one, its migtht be harder to move up. also you have to target a team that needs more quantity in prospect like the shark last year. habs need more the quality of the prospect i believe. maybe washington?

The habs literally had the highest number of expected nhlers based on their prospect pool after last draft they have ZERO interest in trading a premier blue chip pick for non blue chip picks

I think your dramatically underestimating the cost to move up.

The Proposed trade is roughly 12ish for 26ish, 58ish and 68ish. The Coyotes trade last year was 11th for 27th, 34th and 45th. That is not "around the same price". That's noticeably less, a comparable price would be for Tampa's 1st and Chicago and Ottawa's 2nds. But, the quality of the prospects, especially in the 6-16 range this draft compared to last is much higher so it is not worth considering for a team in Montreal's position.

Philly is not trading down. They seriously lack talent and the draft is the only place where they can get that because Fletcher is too stupid to get it through trading.

Pretty deep draft this year. Unless someone is there that KD feels he absolutley needs to have, I'd say make as many picks in the top 50 as we can.

Montreal is looking to take the highest ranked Center with their pick and I expect Sandin-Pellikka with the Cats pick. We need to fill those 2 holes over getting more depth picks. Reports are Gorton told Hughes to stop getting depth picks at this year's deadline, that's why guys like Drouin, Hoffman and Armia were not moved.

Here you go, it was from Hughes himself

Hughes on focusing on the upcoming NHL Draft:

I've traveled already a couple of times this year to go scout. In fact, we were booking our trips to Switzerland [for the IIHF Under-18 World Championship in April] today, so that's certainly a big focus. We've got to continue to evaluate this group, everybody in this group. I don't think we're going to be ignoring the Montreal Canadiens by any stretch, but clearly having a number of picks again this year, two firsts, and I was told not to get another fourth-round pick in this year's Draft, a fourth or fifth [laughing], so the Draft is very important.

Habs probably trading the FLA pick for Dubois and if they dont, i could see them drafting Cristall or trying to move up

Not worth the jump, IMO. There are tons of great players in the late 1st round all the way into the 3rd round. I definitely would like to get an ADDITIONAL 2023 1st in the 10-20 range if Davidson can find some way to make it happen, but I wouldn't give up the TBL 1st to do it.
