My hope would be that if we trade DeBrincat, we would get back a full refund from any team.

That would mean if we trade DeBrincat to Detroit, we would get #9 overall + a second + a third.

But what if Detroit doesn't want to trade #9 overall for DeBrincat?

Yeah well Yzerman isn't trading the 9 OA pick for Cat, So deal him elsewhere. We'll just stay the course and keep our picks thank you.

Why do the wings need to compromise haha hard no on giving you any of those firsts. I don’t want Cat and I hope Yzerman shares my opinion

Pretty sure that's what I was getting at.

Ottawa will not get back what they paid. They will not get close to what they paid.

The Sens bought a nice low mileage sports car and they paid blue book value, maybe a bit above. A year later, there are more miles, and nobody is sure if that engine noise is ok or not. Probably nothing, but the noise is still there. The Sens are realizing tbe upkeep of their toy sports car is a little more than they thought it would be, and the car didn't drive like they thought it would. So tell me, who pays for a year older car with assured higher maintenance costs and possible problems?

Because compromise is how trades work?

If you don't want Cat and don't like this ACGM, too bad.

There will be plenty of ACGMs to come involving Cat to Detroit.

Honestly a compromise would be Berggren and a second. If you say we would need a first with Berggren I would say Berggren is the first. Good young skilled player who might be expendable if we acquired Debrincat. Would maybe take Joseph in that deal and I would also like Thomson in it. Might need a bit more going to Ottawa but start with that.

Or we just keep "driving that car" for another 8 years until it quits.

And then you'll move on to whine and complain about the next ACGM involving a trade to Detroit.

We’ll gladly trade you sand for pounding in exchange for future considerations. You’re not getting your “full refund”. You’re not getting two firsts, you’re not getting 9OA.

What you’re getting is an overpriced undersized winger who doesn’t want to be there and will be traded away for less value than what you paid.

Seeing as how he won’t sign long term I can’t see how that will be 8 years from now. He’ll sign his 1 year deal for 9 million and then become UFA next summer. Dude wants UFA status to go where he wants to go.
