I mean, most of the specialty jerseys weren't necessarily political. Nothing political about Cancer awareness, pride, Indigenous history, black history, etc is inherently political. Plus, these nights are still happening, they just aren't platforming the jerseys which is a huge shame. The unique practice designs were always really fun and gave artists the opportunity to have their work honored.

Not really sure why the change was made in this way. It's certainly not as big of a deal as many people are making it out to be, it just kinda stinks


Hockey is not responsible for solving the world’s problems and even more importantly it should not be on players to wear sweaters at any time that make statements of any kind. It’s a job and they’re representing whichever team they’re on. They aren’t there to make statements.

Normally I wouldn’t, but it does now seem less likely he will be there at 8 than it did last week or even a few days ago.

I hate Bettman as much as the next guy, but I 100% support him here. Even without getting into a whole debate about the whole pride movement itself (which for the record I don’t support but that’s irrelevant), it was clearly only causing problems. Explain to me how it’s good for anyone on either side when all the media talks about is these guys not wearing the jerseys. It’s just causing unnecessary controversy. This is sports, the place that is supposed to be politics free.

In order for them to move up, someone has to move down in one of the most hyped 1st rounds in recent memory. Gonna be interesting, to say the least.

If you look at the end of specialty jerseys from a purely business perspective, it will benefit the salary cap. Less jerseys mean less expenses which puts more money in the owner’s pockets which in turn (at least theoretically) would give the salary cap more room to grow.

Johansen to PLD isn't that big of an upgrade as you'd think. Especially enough to dump your 2C and retain half of his contract to do so. Nashville is in full rebuild mode

Joey produced at 40 point pace last year, PLD produced at 60+ and is on the up while Joey is on the down.

IDK if Joey is definitely a 2C anymore.

He's still a 2nd Line C. Dumping your 2C only to overpay for another 2C who wants more is terrible asset management.

To some, Nashville probably has a real weak center core now that RyJo is gone. Duchene probably slides back into 1C. Since they are rebuilding/retooling, I like that they are giving time to Glass, Parssinen and Novak. They've got plenty of guys who can play center on their roster and in their organization. I'm not so sure they make a big splash this season to bring in another center.

While I agree, the idea is more about personnel change I think. Not sure how PLD would like Nashville since I've heard people say he wants to go to a contender.

Not for nothing, it's way better than that. Nashville paid $8M in cash and cap space to hand him over. This is probably the type of trade that should be investigated.

I get they got Johansson for nothing but idk unless they get the 2022 version I feel he's not gonna be the 2c solution either and they once again gonna need to go find someone.

Would have traded for Lindholm as that's the guy to be their 2c. And by moving Girard as part of deal to make room for the extension
