In your guys' opinion, which NHL team current has the best jersey kits? I think Arizona has cornered the market with good jerseys. Their home jerseys are gorgeous, the away jerseys are awesome, and the desert night third jerseys are some of my favourite all time

Random realization: The Sens didn't pick until the 4th round this past draft???

How are you a pretty clear non-playoff team and let that happen?

Also didn't have a 1st last year and may as well not have had one the year before...

Was only the 1st in 2023. 2nd and 3rd were used to dump salary.

Was kind of a rhetorical question...

I think the funniest thing I have seen on this site is saying Nylander is not worth what Meier got contract wise and that his value is more similar to Fiala.....

I want what they smoking it must be good

Well Nylander is technically a rental. 1 Year away from UFA. I'd be surpised if TOR got what he's worth unless they swap him for a similar talent with a simolar contract situation. Guentzel/Lindholm both come to mind as potential targets

No no in terms of next contract

Not trade

Someone said Nylander was not a player worth a Meier contract and would be more comparable to what Fiala got 7.875m

Should have specified. Also man if Nylander got what Meier got would be unhappy as of that package 2 of the pieces was good

Honestly been discussing a Guentzel for Willy swap.

But after how things went with his departure does Kyle want to deal with Toronto lul

It's just not a good idea. Guentzel is:
- Older than Nylander
- Worse than Nylander
- Also a pending UFA
- Doesn't provide something that Nylander doesn't; they play identical styles

Lindholm is a good target for the Leafs because he provides something different. He's a center and plays a strong 200ft game. He helps the Leafs more than Nylander does. Either way, the return on a Nylander trade will be awful. It's a garbage situation to be in

I mean 1 year age diff really should not be a deal breaker 2 or 3 sure but 1 is silly. Also Guentzel is the same as Willy but better come playoffs. As 58 points in 58 playoff games is very impressive. Also shouldnt cost more than 8.8m-9m to extend

As in the end if I got Guentzel for Willy I would be fine with it as thats a guy who is also a good goal scorer while also playing with a little bit of a physical edge

THe idea is the team shoots low and Player shoots high.

Adin Hill got 4.9, and i'd argue Sammy is a better goalie than him

Yeah that is basically "average" 1A salary for a goalie in the NHL at this point. Ilya had a better than average season last year too.

For similiar aged goalies (rank is overall NHL cap hit):

10th: Igor Shesterkin $5,666,667
12th: Tristan Jarry $5,375,000
14th (tied): Juuse Saros, Thatcher Demko, Cal Peterson $5,000,000
21st: Adin Hill $4,900,000
22nd: Ville Husso $4,750,000
27th: Joonas Korpisalo $4,000,000
33rd (tied): Alexandar Georgiev, Vitek Vanecek $3,400,000
38th: Kaapo Kahkonen $2,750,000

I wonder if both numbers were for just 1 year?

That is definitely how it works now.

I'm trying to remember if it was successfully changed and then changed back or if the process to implement it was later abandoned bc my brain has been fried over decades of CBA changes, but there was at minimum a big push in the 90's to change the process to where the arbiter had to pick one of the asks as the closest to demonstrated value, and not simply split the difference where they thought was fair. Which pushes both sides to more reasonable positions and closer to a compromise. Teams ability nd players both walked in knowing one party was going to get exactly what they asked for, so both tried to have the most reasonable bid or compromise before arbitration.

So I made a trade idea that helps both OTT and Van

Garland for Joseph and a 3rd

Van gets cap space to bring Pearson back off LTIR and Ottawa gets someone to fill in a spot that Debrincat left

Like literally "fit his spot" as in 5'8 ~175 pounds.
