Dude was terrible on Montreal, but the Nostaligia that him and MacKinnon will play together again gives me chills. MacDog and Drouin together again grin

This is a fantastic, low risk high reward deal. Stoked to see him reunited with Mackinnon as well. Love this for the Avs

Good Luck JD!
Probably the best situation for him
I was always rooting for him to work out for us
Should turn it around now that the spotlight is off him

He missed an entire year (including a SCF appearance) due to personal issues. Dude just needed to get out of Montreal

Fingers crossed things work out for him. I was always rooting for him, even aside from the obvious reality that he was on our team, because there's a contingent of anti-Drouin fans who represent the absolute worst aspects of hockey fandom.

When he could play for us, he was generally a good player; during the absolute dog days of late 2021, he was arguably the best forward on the team. But he may be the unluckiest player I have ever watched, any time things were starting to get going, he'd suddenly be out of the lineup again.

Remember when scouts and pundits thought Drouin was going to be a stud and that the Panthers made a mistake in drafting Barkov ahead of him? Fun times lol.

I get there's a value difference between all the 50% retained Drouin trade to Colorado for a low pick and this contract, but ALL the Avs fans repeating " the team doesn't need him" like parrots were none the less wrong about it. Just like Lehkonen.

Our trash is your tresure. Enjoy.

Nichushkin's shooting percentage went from 6.8% with 1.5 shots per game in 13:47 time on ice in Dallas to 11.8% with 2.3 shots per game in 16:47 of time on ice in Colorado.

Lehkonen's shooting percentage went from 9.0% with 2.1 shots per game in 15:00 time on ice in Montreal to 13.8% with 2.4 shots per game in 19:39 time on ice in Colorado.

I'm hoping Drouin (8.6% 1.85 SH/G in 16:08 TOI) and Miles Wood (8.9% 2.2 SH/G in 13:08 TOI) can also see a big bump in their offensive efficiency.

I think the mods deleted a lot of comments in this thread.

That said, your memory and mine seem to differ on this. The pushback on Drouin ACGM posts under his last contract was always that he was too expensive, even at half retained. Giving up precious cap space to pay Drouin $2.75M at the deadline never made sense, even if it was just a 7th round pick.

But a large contingent of the Avs fanbase have been down for Drouin on a fresh contract. He’s clearly so talented that maybe he puts it together and plays to his pedigree. Worst case scenario, he can’t put it together and goes to the AHL like Galchenyuk.

Oh you'd imagine that would be the case, they clearly have some good coaches over there. Nichuskin in particular totally re created his career. I've liked what I've seen out of this off season so far for the Avs. Anything to say about Eller by chance?

Dude was playing with folks who were SO much faster than him when he was with us. He just couldn't keep up with the game. That being said, when he was able to establish himself in front of the net in either zone he was effective in that area. I think y'all overpayed by about 1 mill, but I think he will fit better in your system than ours.

Oh that's actually huge, we need a net front presence somewhere in the lineup, appreciate the insight
