It's interesting that both Fantilli and Carlsson are signed, but Bedard is not as of now

For the sake of the Ducks, he should really be the 3C this season. The bottom of their roster is filled with AHL players so hopefully a handful of young guys get a shot at a job.

I think you have to be 18 to sign a contract, which he doesn't turn until July 17th. He will sign on that day I would say.

I’d hope that they make that call based on what’s best for his development and not where they may or may not have holes in their roster

But is it really a good idea to sign your young high draft picks? Hmm...

As far as where he goes, Carlsson is physically ready for the NHL and plays against men in the SHL. I would say give him his 9 games and if he's doing okay roll with it.

DRAFT YEAR STATS:

Adam Fantilli | NCAA | 36 GP - 30G - 35A - 65P | 1.81 Points/Game | 0.83 Goals/Game
Jackie Eichels | NCAA | 40 GP - 26G - 45A - 71P | 1.77 Points/Game | 0.65 Goals/Game

Fantilli just had the best pre-draft NCAA season in decades (arguably the best NCAA season in history).

People don't realize how good of a prospect he is (I think he'll get more points than Zegras this year).

ENJOY HIM ANAHEIM!

I think Fantilli will ultimately be better then Carlsson, but both had insane pre-draft years in their respective leagues. But only so many guys can do what Fantilli did. and I really like Carlsson as well.

I didn't vote No, but I have one question (And my guess is that anyone who does vote No is concerned about the timeline)... Should he really be playing more than 9 NHL games this season? I'm almost always against playing rookies in their draft year, especially on hollow teams. Feel like it will just stunt his long term development.

Why does signing his ELC mean he's going to play 9+ NHL games? Getting him under contract allows them to loan him to the AHL though if they prefer him to play there. His European assignment clause means that he would need to agree to play in San Diego instead of Sweden, but if that provides him a quicker road to the NHL, then I'm sure he'd be all about it.

The Kings did the same with Toby Bjornfot a few years ago, and he played his draft year in the AHL instead of Sweden without burning the first season off his ELC.

No reason for him to play in the big leagues next season. It seems like every time these kids are rushed into the lineup, they either get hurt and miss half the season, or they have trouble adapting to the speed and underwhelm offensively. Look at all the top 5 picks over the last few years that never should've been in the NHL as 18 year olds. If he's ripping the AHL to shreds, then maybe give him a shot after the TDL. Otherwise, let him adapt to the physicality of the NA style and dominate offensively against moderate competition.

Cool story bro. We had the opportunity to take him, we liked Carlsson better. We have our reasons, but way to show you're not buying the media hype that Fantilli is the clear cut #2 guy.

Leo Carlsson | WC | 8 GP - 3G - 2A - 5P | 0.63 Points/Game | 0.38 Goals/Game

We all know the stats you shared because the Eichel narrative was exhausted in hockey media for months leading up to the draft.

Do I have any idea who will be better? Nope. But don’t pretend your well worn stats are news to anyone here, and especially not to the ANA front office that opted for Carlsson instead
