I would not move Mercer for Laughton. I would consider moving an unsigned Pinto for Laughton, but probably end up against it. Depends what else is in there.

Trading a 22 year old for a 29 year old is a terrible move especially considering the direction the players are going in

Any Di Marco and Ant San Philly are both the Flyers two most connected insiders and Ant San Philly said on one of his recent podcasts (I don’t remember which one and they are all over an hour long so I’m not going back to find out lol) that the top 6 is basically already a forgone conclusion for Torts and that any movement in the current team would be in the bottom 6 roster spots so yes it would be Laughton lol. It’s not going to be Frost, Tippet, or TK because they are all top 6 guys. I don’t think it will be Cates either but technically he is the 3C so who knows but realistically we all know it’s Laughton. Pagnotta reported around the draft that the Sens had checked in on Laughton so we know they like him and he was real close with Giroux. Like I said if Pinto is traded to the Flyers it will be something similar to:

Anything more than that you can just consider the Flyers off the list because they aren’t moving any top 6 guys.

I haven't been following whats been happening with Pinto in the offseason. Is this just the usual RFA looking for a better deal from the team or does he not want to be in Ottawa (or Canada)?

Yikes considering that more reporters are now tweeting that talks are still ongoing and it will be potentially a larger trade, you should probably do a little more research because the Sens didn’t “laugh them out of the building”

Why are people bringing up Mercer? He is under contract (RFA next summer). So it’s not like he is useful as a comp. And he is probably getting a max term deal.

The contractual comps for Pinto are probably somewhere along lines of Chytil’s deal ($4.4m x 4), Cirelli’s first extension ($4.8m x 3) on high end…or Dube ($2.3m x 3), Frost ($2.1m x 2) on low end.

Considering the new reports came out like 30 minutes I would assume that Philly did move on and OTT changed their minds when something happened with Pinto. Maybe he gave up on them finally and told them to trade him.

I just saw the last update 10-15 mins ago and they said another Sens young player for a veteran. It doesn’t sound like a Pinto deal
