Crazy overpay. Use the Jets 1st and it's much more reasonable.

Why are so many Habs fans obsessed with trading for an underachiever?

You can probably leave two of those pieces out, especially Harris.

We're fine keeping Trevor, whose figures Cole Caufield is struggling to reach even though Z played 14 games while injured this season and only three shifts of a 15th game. We wouldn't want him to go to a team half of whose fanbase doesn't know enough about hockey to appreciate him.

For the half that does, Jordan Harris is a redundant LhD, therefore a nullity, and Jesse Ylonen is a B prospect. Take them and the second out and replace with either Owen Beck or Filip Mesar.

Underachieving how, the fact that he's played 5 games healthy all year? He tried to play through a groin injury at the start of the year that landed him on IR, had a few games back before he got dumped into the boards and broke his ankle. The fact that he had back to back 60+ points seasons with no sophomore slump shows what he can consistently do. The very small sample size this year is not indictive of the player he is.

A late first and a redundant LHD doesn't buy a 22 year top 6 forward with star capability. Dach went for more than that, and Dach was damaged goods.

You can crow "over rated" until the cows come home, points don't lie.

I think he's more underrated at this point and will be a good/great player for a while, but the offer with the 6OA + is an overpay.

Since being drafted 9th, Zegras lost value because of his abysal defensive play and the shorter term toward free agency.

We's worth a top 15, or low 1st round pick ++

Zero chance MTL gives a 6th for him.

I find it absolutely hysterical that a Pittsburgh homer characterizes Zegras as an "underachiever." Jake Guentzel had 157 points through his first 204 games, which doesn't exactly dwarf Z's 139 points in 180 games -- in fact, both are roughly 3/4 PPG. In Bryan Rust's first 243 games, he recorded 114 points, but of course I don't know how much of that time was playing with either Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin. What I do know is that during those 5 seasons, the Penguins were good enough as a team to win the Stanley Cup twice.

I agree about Mesar or Beck being included

Like i told you before you and i can explain reality and context to them in regards to Zergras,Caufield and even Suzuki
Doesnt matter they see Zegras as a Pacioretty type Floater which we both know isnt the case

The issue becomes how do you convince people of that when you have had like 8 games in 5 years versus each other?
Its like Seguin, if you ask most Eastern Conference fans when he was at his best you'll get East fans saying in BOS and West fans saying DAL
Its why i hate the NHL's Schedule but if they had more All Star/ World Cup type events fans would invest more in players all across the NHL

Not an excuse but its like i told Windjammer last year with non stop PLD trades.
Its Fictional Suggested Trades from Strangers. Sometimes we lose sight of that expecting there's a world where we can reach them
But the reality is its unlikely to happen as we only get wise with age and the youth out number us more each passing year lol

Zegras is great , i wouldnt say otherwise.
I'd expect the same when you address Harris as he's a top 4 D in a system where there's room for top 4 D(IMO he's only odd man out cause it was him or Xhekaj and i aint parting with WIFI)

Log Jams have their own draw backs but he thrived with more minutes last year and was doing so with no consistent Partners as everyone was off and on IR or LTIR most of the season . This year he simply got leap frogged by his Protege for 1 reason alone Struble Fights. Factor in he Hits and Lays down the Law while doing much of what Harris does .

This draft is lacking star power outside of Celebrini, one would hope that the player taken at 6OA turns into as good a player as Zegras. Lots of guys who go 5-7 bust every year. Cody Glass and Philip Zadina come to mind.

The likelihood that the player taken at 6 this year eclipses Zegras ever in his career is minimal, the risk that the player taken at 6 busts is tangible. The + to 6OA pays for the risk associated with swapping a known top 6 forward for a guy you hope becomes the player you are trading out.

The fact that the hype isn’t backed by production. Back to back 60 point seasons don’t make you a 1C. The hype around the kid makes you think he’s a Jack Hughes clone but he’s not remotely close. The highlight reels on YouTube don’t mean he’s worth multiple 1sts or a 1st and an A level prospect.

Jack Hughes went 1OA with good reason, so why are you even bringing him up? Zegras's production alone in his first two seasons makes him worth 6OA this year +, he's a known top 6 player at 22, the pick is a risk and the ceiling for 6OA probably isn't even as high as Zegras. Maybe go understand the number of Centers who have put up back to back 60+ in their FIRST TWO seasons in the last 15 years is, it's a hell of a.short list occupied by the likes of EP40, Jack Eichel, etc, so yeah, the hype is absolutely backed up by the production, claiming otherwise is burying your head in the sand because you hate the Michigan and you're watching your own superstar rot on a team.at the end of the road.

You pay for the known quantity and the risk associated for swapping that for a riskier asset.

honestly we just draft 6 and you keep your 60 pt guy who doesnt play defense.....those 4 assets are worth more than a guy that Anahiem does feel is good enough to play defense or center so they are moving him to the wing.. II like Suzuki and dach and beck down the middle and as a winger i am fine with Slaf and Caufield and newhook and roy and who you get at number 6 this year...The trade for a star forward will cost more and involve more of our defense and picks if we do it. I would rather trade for Marner than Zegras as he is a star where the other is a wanna be.

He's played center both games he's been back, his defense has been night and day different this year, and you seem to think 60 points are his ceiling rather than something he did IN HIS ROOKIE YEAR.

But please, continue to tell us how you don't know what you are talking about.

Oh I will young man.. Look i get Zegras has an upside. And you want your team to get alot but some of his issues just aren't a good fit with montreal. We are getting our young players who could be influenced by zegras to play a 200 foot game. You need everyone to buy in and so far it doesnt seem like Anahiem has be able to get him to buy in. The other reason is you just dont value our assets the way we do so anahiem will shop him elsewhere. Honestly Montreal will package some defenseman and picks to get a star winger who does play a 200 foot game. That is what Hughes is going to do. Just because a guy is available you shouldnt necessary trade for him. Lokk at Pierre Luc Dubois as a perfect example. and his 200 foot game is questionable as well. He signed for big money and is not producing. Eight more years of that.

I love it when Ducks fans say half a fan base doesnt appreciate a 1 dimensional 60 point player at his peak and yet in turn demands a trade price higher than Jack Eichel because half a fan base isnt knowledgable.

I can imagine Verbeek now on the phone with Hughes. You know now, Kent, half you fan base sucks, so we arent giving you Zegras unless you pay more than the Knights did for Jack Eichel. Delusional doesn't begin to describe these takes, terminally online would tho

1: Cut the holier than thou **** kid.

2: What does "not valueing MTLs assets the same" have anything to do with this? The premier prospect offered in this deal is a LHD. MTLs quality of LHD pales in comparison to Anaheim in the U23 department. Harris is going to be a middle of the lineup guy at best and Ylonen barely produces at the NHL level.

3: "Just because a guy is available" see, THATS the error MTL fans keep making, he hasn't been, nor is being shipped, it's not like Dach who was damaged goods when he was picked up, or Newhook who's development had derailed. If you think you're going to pick up Zegras for less than Dach you are kidding yourself, look at the trade comparables. Dach got 13OA+ and his best season prior to being traded was in the 30s, and the guy has a known history of getting hurt every season.

You think a guy who turned 23 last week has peaked at 60 points? Quit kidding yourself.

Chris Drury and Scott Gomez fit the criteria too, so I wouldn’t take that random fact about back to back 60 point seasons as anything too serious. He’s shown no growth as a player and that’s the real concern. If a team actually offered you the 6OA and an NHL ready prospect you’d be crazy to turn that down.

Go watch a Ducks game with Zegras in it this season, a full game, not the highlights, since the highlight pack doesn't bother with his defensive plays, before you go spewing libel. He's taken huge strides in his defensive game. "He hasn't developed" is a complete falsehood.
