I would absolutely do that WPG trade. I love what Copp does but I honestly think they keep him Him, Lowry and Appleton is a nice line for them

I don't want Simmonds back. He did literally nothing. Too slow to keep up. Too slow to lay out big hits. Didn't bring the physicality I expected.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Trevorchef</b></div><div>Perhaps I have misread how Carolina values some of its D Core.
I'm still not totally clear on who they'd protect from this conversation.
I would have guessed that they would protect Slavin, Pesce, and Skjei but, you guys are saying that they would in fact protect Bean over Skjei? Is that the case?</div></div>
Both are viable options that have reasonable ideas backing them.
Skjei is the better player now, but he is overpaid by a million, so if he is taken we can get a cheaper UFA to do what he does
Bean is younger and is more mistake prone, but he will be cheaper for the next couple of years and has the potential to grow into a top 4 role.

What Sources are Indicating
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Trevorchef</b></div><div>Thats fair, and so they should. Any Eichel trade would have to come with either the assurance that he is healthy enough to play or a very pre-agreed upon understanding of recovery time after surgery to properly use LTIR.
If the Sabres asked for Drysdale + Henrique (for salary purposes) + The 3rd overall pick.... Would the ducks do it?
I think that would be a very fair return for Buffalo IF the Ducks know exactly what they are getting in Eichel.</div></div>
If this were a year in the future, I'd absolutely consider it. Honestly, it's like Zegras though. If we were an Eichel away from being competitive, I would absolutely consider trading him. But, we're not, and won't be for <strong>at least</strong> 2 years. I just think it's extremely short sighted to start moving picks and prospects when (at best) this moves you from 2nd worst to 9th-10th worst. Plus, even if you look past the injury stuff, what's to say Jack doesn't show up and say "Welp...you guys also suck...I'm going to demand a trade, but now I have the power of my NMC, which is going to absolutely f*ck you :)"

It’s not realistic. Vegas isn’t trading Krebs for a defenseman. We are tight in cap. Zero chance this happens

Would the leafs be better without marner and cap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Trevorchef</b></div><div>Hyman will leave. He deserves a big raise and he will get it as a UFA. The same applies to Rielly. After this coming season Rielly will be a UFA and deserving of a big raise (7+ Million), and he will get it as a UFA. You can take that to the bank.
The Leafs are not in a position to extend either of those guys and keep the core together. They just can't do it. It would cripple the depth.
Falling in love with your own players is a dangerous game. I love both of those guys, but, it is time to make the tough choices.</div></div>
Yep totally agree and I think Dubas understands that, which is why I tossed out the idea of trading Marner. You cant fall in love with a single player and I think the biggest problem outside of a killer instinct this season was when the injuries hit, we didn't have the depth to fight it.

So on the left we would have Fowler, Lindholm and Rielly and on the right we would have three even older stiffs. Meanwhile, we would have traded away half of our prime future assets.

Give me one reason why the sabres pass this trade. Kerfoot and a first is enough, as Hall has struggled this season. Hall is also a rental on the nhl's worst team. I cannot see a single reason for them to pass.

One of the best top sixes ever even honestly
Two 90 point players
Three 70 point players
One 40 point player
The only better ones were when Mario & Gretz had Boromir Jagger and all stars to play with and maybe the '44 Canadiens and some teams here & there
Oddly the '06 Hurticanes had 6 forwards near PPG
But yeah that many forwards that close to point per game is extremely rare and usually results in a cup

Granland Ekholm How Far Off
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Trevorchef</b></div><div>I said that it would get them listening. Nothing more.
An opening offer like that would get most teams attention.
I seriously doubt that would be the end of the deal though. Those are two premier players with term left. Anything short of that.... I'm sure Nashville could do better elsewhere.
If the plan in Nashville is a rebuild.... Robertson, Sandin and a 1st is a great start. I don't think rebuilding is their plan though.
Replacing guys like Ekholm and Forsberg isn't as easy as it sounds. Especially with term left on their deals.
It would take a massive injection of blue chip prospects and picks for them to part with both of those guys IMO.</div></div>
Yeah, I'm not too concerned with the cost for Forsberg, I highly doubt Nashville is moving him, and even if Toronto somehow got him, it would lead to major roster changes next year, so just don't see it.
I really don't see Sandin and Robertson on the table this trade deadline, not with the Leafs lack of capspace today and going forward.

Add Kerfoot and possibly another draft pick (a 2nd or 3rd in 2022 or 2023) to this and I think they could be sold on this. If not, throw in a lower tier prospect like SDA or Abramov

Good Lines
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Trevorchef</b></div><div>It seems very few people actually understand that this kind of maneuvering does not work at present.
It would be foolish to insert Lehtonen into the lineup just to have him on the bottom pair and risk losing Dell to waivers, (very likely), in the process.
Without subtracting Barabonov, (who is waivers exempt), and going with one less forward, this kind of stuff just doesn't skate at the moment.
Barabonov out and Robertson in is a move that would work at present.
This, as presented here, does not.
People need to stop thinking beyond the left over cap and start thinking about waivers exposure. Do you want Hutchinson as your number three right now? I sure as hell don't!!</div></div>
Yup I agree. There are several ways to move in players without risking anyone on waivers. Keefe will most likely juggle things around with this starting roster before moving players. It’s one game in and I’m not going to judge Bogo based on that but if he continues through this back to back with this poor play I think you have to risk waivers with him.
I believe Robertson and Lilly in and barabanov out works just off the top of my head.

FINAL MOVE
Regardless of who anyone likes better and both guys are great players but they couldnt be any different stylistically though.
Not sure where your getting that analysis from. Surely isnt from watching them play.
As for the trade, neither guy need a scenery change. The only possible motivation here is Isles need cap space to sign Barzal, which they'll have by the time the season starts.
If im Columbus and can get Dubois signed for what is expected he'll end up taking, not sure why they want to make this move anyway. Taking on a lot more cap for no real reason.

Again my point in all of this is for Leaf fans to calm the waters in the value they place on their perceived assets.</div></div>
Nylander's gotta get some more consistency, he even admitted himself the coach has to kick his ass sometimes to get him going
Hopefully some of the leaders added to this team this year can hold some guys accountable, bc make no mistake nylander when he's 'on' could easily be a 40 goal scorer imo

I got the distinct impression that they both felt that they were on the same level as 88, 16, 34, and 91 and they simply were not.
Both trades were the right moves. Pandemic and flat cap or not.
They made too much money for what they provided. They have been replaced accordingly.
I wish them well in the wars to come but, I have no problem with them not being on this team anymore.</div></div>
There does seem to be a trend among high draft picks under Dubas (or prospects acquired - like Hallander) - high hockey IQ seems to be one of their top 2 or 3 strengths.
