Eugene takes on a big cap hit that will probably just be LTIR'd and paid by insurance. God bless the penny-pinching hellhole that is Ottawa if you're any of the 30 other teams.
Really, though, Tampa could've put Callahan on LTIR and they take more cap instead. Yes, they get Condon but he still has a cap hit.
They can probably flip Condon to a team that could use a backup and has cap space(Kings?) and clearing out the space is always preferable to getting LTIR relief, it allows for more flexibility.

Yes, but only if they aren't taking more cap back. I don't see Condon being moved again but we'll see.
I guess it's TBL just wanting to make sure they're under the cap day 1 vs waiting until the season starts to sign Erne. It's still not enough for room for Point AND there are now (4) goalies on the roster. I think more moves are in their future.

Possibly. I'll look at their cap. I'm just joking about Ottawa paying Callahan lol.

LMAO giving a 5th rounder for a 6th and getting Condon (that if I'm not mistaken will count for 1.3M on the cap when dumped in the minors) for getting rid of Callahan sounds like an amazing deal to me.
I knew Condon would be moved at some point. He makes 3 million this year and his cap hit is only 2.4, even less if he's buried like last year. Melnyk wouldn't have let that fly.

I guess if you're worried about an offer sheet before Day 1 of the season...ok I get it, but that's $1.3M less in cap flexibility throughout the year that's certain (barring future events) where Callahan could be LTIR and provide more flexibility during the year to acquire other players @ the TDL. Overall, pretty minor stuff though. Not changing the talent on the team. They're still really good!

I don't agree. For what the Lightning situation was with LTIR, moving Callahan's contract is a great thing in order to freely sign Point.
Also, Tampa now has McElhinney, Domingue and Condon, with Fucale, Wedgewood and Martin in Syracuse.
Wouldn't be surprised if Condon will be flipped to someone else. (Domingue, of course, will also be moved)
