$750k to play 10-11 minutes a night and know you'll be eliminated early enough to enjoy the golf season. Spezza has a dream job.

Nice to see the Leafs keep Spezza. Props to Dubas for getting him on a cheap deal, though it wasn't unlikely given Spezza's age.

Since I'm the only one to have said no, this isn't a good signing, I can now explain. Mr Dubas paid wayyyyy too much and needs to double check his stats. lol.

He doesn't have just a dream job, he's one of the Leaf's best players on a dime salary!!!

This guy is a legend. I honestly wouldn't mind playing him in the top 6 or at 3C if Kerfoot is taken.

Great player and contributor.

Anyone posting anything critical or negative is just butthurt that he signed with him Leafs, face it he wants to play at home and that means the Leafs.

I hope for Toronto their plan isn't to put him at 3C once Seattle picks Kerfoot...

Shoulda given him a raise, this is a steal and the leafs are just gonna abuse it. They better do better next year or else 😡😡

If I'm not mistaken, he asked for the league minimum. Talk about taking one for the team!

TOR learns nothing after last year.
Continues to go with old and slow.
If it's nothing but a string of signings like this, you'll be out the 1st round again.

Spezza was the only old man who actually deserved his paycheque and it would be a surprise if any of the other guys were brought back.

i'm assuming dubas just did this to distract leafs fans from the fact that zach hyman is more than likely gone in the off-season

and will be replaced by one or two of Blake Coleman, Nick Bonino, and Nick Foligno among the other players that play a similar style to hyman

making Hyman a distant memory

you can hang on that all day. But the point still stands. This is not an effective way to build a team that is going to win. He's another year older. You are hoping you can get the same thing out of him. But odds are you aren't going to.
They didn't learn.

As long as they don't bring the other guys back, Spezza is fine to return. You're acting like by having 1 old player, it means the walls are caving in

it's not just about 1 older player. That's the point you don't get. It's a mentality. He's 39 years old. It's time to move on. Period. You're clutching on.

Why does age matter whatsoever? He was good in the regular season and the playoffs.

Hopefully this time he doesn't cry and pout when Toronto throws him on waivers. Easy way to lose respect for a player (unless you're a Toronto fan)

Do you have to play devil's advocate on literally everything? This is just like the GM Game all over again.

Why are you comparing two different players? Heatley at 32 was washed. St.Louis at 39 was elite

Yes, I live playing devil's advocate, that's literally my persona

PS: I'm still not over my unjust dismissal in that game.
