I don't think the Canucks are looking to move Myers anytime soon and I know they're not looking to move him and add cap space when they have key RFA's to sign

If Pettersson gets $7.M, VAN will get offer-sheeted faster than you can blink an eye.

Not trading Connolly’s bad contract if we’re getting an even worse contract in return

I don’t think the canucks have any reason to do that Sens trade. Paul isn’t worth a third, especially not with Motte.

Absolutely 6’8 Unit, in front of the net prescence Calder trophy winner Tyler Myers?

If Pettersson gets 7.5 mil, he will be signed so how does he get offersheeted? I don’t quite see your logic?

You guys didn’t skip a heartbeat to give a guy 9.5 million who had a down year. Myers is only 2 mil overpayed similar to Jones.

Heh. Hawks gain pocket change cap space for one season, and then still have to pay trainwreck Myers another 2x6. That's not fooling anyone.

What added cap space? There is almost $2.5M in cap space this year. Of course it all depends on how much they pay Pettersson and Hughes. There is enough to pay them each a million more than what I have proposed.
Sutter, Paul, Murphy ,Hunt, Halak don't HAVE to be resigned. The Luongo penalty is coming off the books. IMO the only key RFAs to sign are Boeser, Rathbone and DiPietro.
Juolevi and Highmore, maybe. There is $14.5M for that.
If Boeser gets $8M (which I doubt) and Rathbone and DiPietro get $1.5M each that leaves $3.5M for Juolevi, Highmore and perhaps Paul who was added for more size and, IMO, is better and more versatile than MacEwen
I am hoping that Rathbone becomes Murphy, DiPietro becomes Halak, Juolevi becomes Hunt and Highmore becomes Motte.
I don't think Myers is awful, just overpaid but the aren't they ALL overpaid? He would give the Hawks some surety on RHD while they wait for Mitchell and Regula to develop.
I understand that Chicago is considering placing Connolly on waivers at the start of the season and risk getting no return. Murphy will probably be gone next year so they can pay Jones his $9.5M.
They also need to lose a player to meet the 23 man roster limit. Is Shaw going on LTIR?
That is enough of my ranting for one day.

That’s cap. If you watched Paul play, you’d know why we wouldn’t trade him. There’s no point for us to trade him

Yeah but he’s a third liner at best and we got those already. Pointless trade for both teams.

Yeah I agree there. It would have to be a team like Tampa or Toronto that would likely really need him

Murphy ($3.85M) + Connolly ($3.5M) = $7.35M

Myers ($6M)

Basic math says Vancouver is adding $1.35M in cap space. You said it in your description yourself, didn't think it was too complicated.

You also don't have more cap space because I don't think you understand how LTIR works. Ferland's cap doesn't magically disappear. You have to spend right to the upper limit of the cap to get the full relief of his salary. Right now you have $2,489,341M in cap space and Ferland's $3.5M in LTIR relief. But because you have that cap space, you add Ferland's contract onto the cap and then you're allowed to go over because you reach the $81.5M upper limit so you only get $1,010,659M of relief so that's your actual cap space. Plus you have a possible $2.55M in bonuses to put out which if you don't pay out this season, go on to an overage fee for next seasons cap. So where do you see all this space coming from if you don't even now how the cap works?
