Great news for The Hamburglar! Montreal has abysmal goaltending, so he's probably gonna get a look back in the NHL. Love this for him, he'll always hold a special place in my heart.

Collecting goalies like Pokemon.
Was only a matter of time. Primeau is best served in the AHL right now. Montembault was only a waiver claim, so it isn't hurting us to keep playing him (though it's not good for him either).
Could have used someone better to give the guys more confidence in the goaltending, but no point spending to get that. Hopefully Hammond can earn that confidence quickly with a second life.

He's just a cannon fodder to allow Primeau to go build back his confidence in the AHL. It needed to be done ASAP.

I hope the fact they didn't go for a better goalie (Georgiev?) means it's a short term move because Price will come back....

It was an obvious call

It was either a trade with FLA or MIN

Finally Guerrin helped his friend Hughes wink

Montreal wins simply because Hammond will actually do something for us which will be provide help at goalie ( otherwise known as not sending Primeau to the wolves )

Both Baddock and Hammond could have been claimed off waivers last October for free.

Both Baddock and Hammond are pending UFAs making league minimum.

It's nothingness for nothingness.

I voted fair deal.

Georgiev would have required actual assets though. I think their goal is to end the season with Allen and Montembeault, and traded for Hammond just for the meantime.

Context

Price (out), Allen (out), Montembeault (playing hurt), Primeau (not ready).

He's going to be our starter for the next month and then likely find himself on waivers.

If Price's knee doesn't heal, we are going to need a 1B to split the job with Allen next season.

Seravalli says Georgiev is on the market for playoffs renforcement. lMO he would fit the role and would probably only cost Lehk or less.

The last thing I want is to keep hoping for Price's return until the start of next season and be empty handed when he doesn't.

This trade isn't about player's value but about team needs, W for Montreal as they fill a gaping immediate need without giving much.

Which is why he's still on the worst team in the league! Hey, what team owns your 1st rounder this year again? (Yes, I know there's conditions on it, let me enjoy this <3)

No pun intended, but this trade is a total nothingburger in the grand scheme of things. Still, there are benefits; MTL gets even more goalie insurance, while MIN can give Baribeau and Jones some time in Iowa.

Nice. I would've rathered a better goalie for the confidence of the boys, but it's not terrible!
Hammond could split till trade deadline with montembeault.
By then Allen and price probably will be back, we could Trade 1 of them (hammond), send montembeault to AHL, and he splits with primeau. I don't know what would happen with mcniven though

Ya that expansion draft, I would have done things a lot different than Francis did.
