this year Kahun and Chiasson aren't in the top 6 and Turris isn't the 3rd line center

Yeah don't get me wrong Oilers are def the favorite but that was also the case last year too.

Just don't choke this time.

I don't think it's fair to just go by that. Aren't these the same people that gave given Seth Jones Norris votes?

Yep. But you'd think this season they would've learned their lesson, right?
Wrong.

that's tough, Suzuki is a clutch player but I'm not sure if he will ever provide enough offense at 5v5 to become a true 1C. Assuming their contracts are similar I'd probably take Dubios

I think it's easier to put up 5v5 point with Ehlers, Connor, Panarin than with Josh Anderson, Drouin, Armia though

I agree, but Dubios has always been pretty good at driving offense. Suzuki is young, he could figure it out. I would probably choose Dubios to be safe , but it could be the wrong move.

Worth watching the final minute of regulation in last night's insane Flames-Predators thriller. Yes, Saros was out and probably does not give up this goal-but still an amazing 60 seconds.

20-21 season

GAR
Rantanen: 16.5
Marner: 14.2

Points per 60 min
Rantanen: 3.82
Marner : 3.26

I defiantly think it is easy for us to sit back and nit pick who is better (which is still almost impossible to quantify)

There is probably a very good chance he will be the best RW again.

somebody who is smarter then me should do a armchair GM team of one player from each team that could step for their team in the playoffs, like one player from each team that gets a lot of points in the playoffs who didn't get a lot of points in the regular season

If LA sweeps the Oilers

Holland should immediately be fired without question. As the Kings are basically a gift wrapped ticket to the second round. As LA does not have Doughty rn nor Walker and Anderson

But man if that happens that ties CBJ vs. TBL in terms of David beating Goliath

No it doesn’t lol, the Oilers aren’t nearly good enough to be Goliath. They have atrocious defense and streaky goaltending. There’s definitely a world where Danault and Kopitar stifle McDavid and Draisaitl despite Doughty being out, and it wouldn’t be all that surprising, especially if the playoffs gets called like it typically does.

Who do you think will have the better career - Heiskanen or Seider?

Quoting: PointStamkosVasilevskiy219188
Heiskanen defensively, Seider offensively.

Heiskanen defensively for sure, offensively depends on who the Stars coach is for the next few years. If it’s Bones then Seider for sure, but if it’s someone who has competent skills offensively then it’d be up for debate.

defense and goaltending have not been problems at all under Woodcroft

Speak for yourself lol, if the Preds end up playing the Flames in the 1st round I think Saros should definitely take all the time he needs to recover properly, maybe get surgery, definitely wouldn’t want to rush back or anything.

You’ve had Mike Smith for 3 years now and still get fooled by his hot streaks? Give me a break. Half the Oilers D wouldn’t even crack the lineup of several other playoff teams.

I think there's enough evidence to say that Rantanen was clearly better than Marner last season. This season it's a lot closer and you can make an argument for either one.

I love how you guys are hating Jones again. Not saying he is good, just saying he’s been better.

Jones is good sure but he's not 9.5mil good, he's a low-end 1st pair D imo

Mike Smith has been on fire for the past month, all he need to do was get over the injuries he has had, and he wasn't the reason we lost last year at all. and Koskinen hasn't been bad this year either.

yes that is true about our defense, that is why it is even more impressive that under Woodcroft the have consistently have keep their compotation to the outside when they take their shots, Woodcroft's Oilers have more high dangers then the other team. The defense have all done well under Woodcroft but in particular Cody Ceci (who has been good all season long) has taken it the next level he has been so much better then all Oilers fans have expected. this team would be scary with 2 more top 4 dmen (Broberg + offseason addition) and with a young reliable goalie (Skinner)

Both were on pace for 99 points(Marner 67 Rantanen 66/ Marner had 9 more even strength points / Rantanen had 3 more hits / Marner had 21 more blocked shots / Marner had 21 more takeaways / Marner had more time playing PK / points/per 60 Marner 3.3 Rantanen 3.8

I wouldn't say Rantanen had clear enough evidence to win.

Agree to disagree tho. All good

I'd take Kucherov over Marner but he's definitely in the top 3

In a one game scenario, or playoffs, Kuch for sure, but over a whole regular season Marner would be my top pick.

I’d take Kucherov and Stone over Marner for sure, and then there’s a good argument for Rantanen too but they’re close. I think he’s solidly passed Pastrnak at this point though.
