With a ton of luck Slafkosky

Created by: MONSTER1974

Initial Creation Date: Jun. 10, 2022
Published: Jun. 10, 2022

Description
#1 pick: Shane Wright. Lock it up. Slam dunk done deal.

If Slafkosky is NOT drafted by NJ, then I try to pull off the following moves to get pick #3 from ARZ.

FIRST: Jeff Petry and 50% retained salary to NYI for pick #13.
SECOND: trade picks #13, #26, & #33 to ARZ for #3.

Slaf goes second and that's not enough for Arizona to move back

Isles have no need for Petry and even retained he is not getting the 13th pick.

Islanders aren’t trading 13 for a 35 year old defenseman way past prime. Hard pass.

Even at half retained, Petry isn't worth the 13th pick

Petry is worth a 1st, on a contending team, but not on a non-playoff team, most he can get is a 1st around the 20-30 range and that is if we do take a bad contract back or retain a bit of his contract. While he did score after MSL was brought in he still is indeed aging, good for 2 years and on the last year he might be getting less points.

Explain why the Islanders are giving up #13 for a 34 year old RD when they already have Ryan Pulock, Noah Dobson, & Scott Mayfield on the roster. Beyond the fact that he's not worth a lottery pick even with retention, it would make no sense for the Islanders to give up one of their most valuable trade assets to get a player at a position they already have a strong core at.

Better off with Fantilli or Dvorsky next year than Slaf. top 5 pick next year is gold. Slaf overrated.

Because we saw a worst dman in Risto go for 13th overall last year. Why not have hope

He’s not worth a first with retention. Best case scenario for Montreal is a Duncan Keith type trade.!

2022 1st round pick (NYI) for Petry, Jeff ($3,125,000 retained)
gunna stop you there

Also 26 and 33 isnt going to convince someone to drop back 10 spots out of the top 10

Yeah, as much as I'd like to see MTL draft both of Wright ans Slafkovsky, I don't think it's a realistic scenario unless MTL is ready to part ways with Anderson and Guhle.

This all just indicates that you haven't watched him play. He is a 40 point RHD dman that has good analytics. He had a bad 30 game stretch this season for the first time in years and then finished the season with 21 points in 29 games.

30 games doesn't dictate a players value, GMs are smart enough to look at his play for the last couple years and know they're getting a solid 23 minute a night guy

I’ve watched him play dude. He’s good, but he’s a 34 year old righty d man with a big cap hit. He isn’t gonna have high trade value.
