Jesus, and to think we were getting beat over the head for asking for JUST a 2023 1st for 50% retention.....

I think maybe he is a bit higher on Henrique than is warranted, but hell, I would be ecstatic with literally any one of these deals.

I think WPG (and most Jets fans) are too high on Mcgroarty to do that trade.

That would leave the oilers 4 million over the cap.

Severson alone probably gets a similar return to Henrique. Adding Holtz and a pick is unreasonable.

Too much for Henrique from the Avs. He's one of the better targets but that's too rich for my blood.

All of these trades are ridiculously tilted in the ducks favour. Give your head a shake.

Tbf if he's only quoting an article it's the author of that article who needs to do that lol, but you are right. Definitely a tilted rink so I'm guessing Stephens is an Anaheim writer or something.

We (the Anaheim contingent) are all pretty well agreed that (1) Colorado, Dallas and New Jersey make the most sense, and (2) the most realistic price is a first, no chaser, with 50% retention. So Bourque and the future second make sense, and I have the feeling that reportorial or editorial desire for variation (continually writing "first-round draft pick" or "{prospect name} plus a second" is boring) is responsible for the Holtz excursion into Fantasyland. Carolina and Toronto might also be interested.

Did you read the part in the Team Description where he said "Eric Stephens of the Athletic released an article this morning on the possibilities of a Henrique trade . . . The post is for you to enjoy!"?

These are from an article posted this morning by the Ducks / Kings respective Athletic Writer. If you are that opposed to the trades, I’d suggest letting him know instead. Like I said, it’s for people to enjoy and discuss, not get defensive over.

I could see the Jets having some interest in Henrique as PLD insurance, but McGroarty almost certainly won't be involved. For a reasonable ask though, it could work.

Ducks would need to retain half of Rico's salary this year and next to make him worth that much. I still don't see the Avs parting with 1sts or promising prospects even for a guy with some term left mostly due to his age; they've seen how ugly things turn when they have injuries and no real replacements ready to come up and be even somewhat impactful. I'd say the probability of a deal like this is 20/80 with half retained.

Stephen’s has to take the homer glasses off. I like him but when I read that this morning I thought these were extremely optimistic returns.

Don't get me wrong, I would be ecstatic to have Adam Henrique. If I could have one addition to the Pens' roster this season, it'd be him. But dear God, all of these are overpays.
Last year, middle-six forwards at/before the deadline typically would go for around either a 1st or a 2nd and a B-ish prospect. Sometimes roster players to make the cap work. Think Toffoli, Copp, Lehkonen, and Rakell. I think Henrique would be somewhere in the middle of that - Probably doesn't get a 1st (at least not a 2023 one) like Toffoli or Copp, but likely gets at least a little more than Rakell.
The Edmonton and New Jersey offers are drastic overpays imo.
As a Pens fan, I'd be offering something along the lines of a '23 2nd, '24 3rd, a prospect (I'd rather part with Legare or Broz, but I think Hallander or Poulin are more likely), and Kapanen with retention to make it cap neutral. If that doesn't work, I like Henrique enough and am desperate enough to offer a package around our '24 1st, but I don't think something like Stephen's suggestions is realistic.
