Kane really handcuffed Davidson here. This really sucks.

ARZ wins this trade by getting a 3rd by just retaining in the short term

CHI-NYR part is roughly fair because Kane's NMC dictates everything, so CHI at least gets something for nothing because he's a UFA and why do they need him the rest of the season? What you're going to hold onto Kane and get absolutely nothing just to snub your nose at the rest of the league? Common it's not that bad

I honestly was getting tired of pretending we were getting a good return for Kane because we got tied up and had to go with this s*it

Hopefully the rangers make the conference finals to lessen the d*ck punch

It's almost second nature to rip on other teams' trades on this site. I don't have it in me for this one, crap scenario for CHI to be in.

I might be in the minority here, but I'd be upset about this if I were CHI fans.

Kane handcuffed them, they got less of a return that some other less valuable players that got moved.

I don't know, I could be way off, but I'd be pissed if I were CHI.

I remember Mats Sundin being somewhat of a saint with his trade demands.

This is worse than the DeBrincat return for Chicago. Davidson got fleeced yet again!

Probably would’ve gotten less in return if we traded DeBrincat today

Davidsons inability to get any prospect with NHL ceilings is astounding.

Ehh, it only looks like that in hindsight thanks to Tippet developing nicely.

I think though that the trick to doing well is to grab a young guy like Tip who has upside but is currently down on value and working on deving them

Unfortunately for Chicago, Andy Welinski is a little too old to fit that profile. I know it was part of the cap gymnastics, but I still think they should've found a way to fit Kravstov into the deal and at least get some sort of reclamation project to work with.

Not sure I understand what you mean. But I can only assume this is meant to be a dig.

Are you referring to his contract demands in Quebec? I'm not a youngen now, but I was young enough then to not know what was going on.

I more or less agree with this, but generally the value is about what should have been expected - even if the specific assets arent who id have gone for

Hawks got more for DeBrincat and Dach than for Kane. Okay then.

I think it’s fair, KD was really screwed with this, so I think he made out okay in the end. Still a Rangers win tho. Finally!

I think Davidson did a terrible job here and I'll tell you why: the Giroux trade. Yes Chicago's hands were tied where he was going. But look at what Philly got for Giroux who also was well off his prime compared to this return. Davidson sucks at his job

Well that isn't surprising when you realize they both were traded for term and Kane was a deadline pick up. Let alone the trade protection. This return is garbage but that isn't why

He's referring to the Muskoka 5. The Leafs had given NTC's to sundin, McCabe, kaberle, Kubina and I actually don't remember who the fifth was. Maybe Tucker?

Then the Leafs stank and they had trouble trading them. In the end sundin refused to waive on his last year when the Leafs sucked. This must have been about 08 give or take.

He then hemmed and hawed on if he was retiring the next year and eventually signed with the nucks in about Jan or Feb as a Ufa. A lot of Toronto fans felt betrayed that he wouldn't waive so we could get a good return for him. Those fans suck. He negotiated a fair deal including a ntc and he decided to use it to stay where he was happy. He's a Leafs legend and we shouldn't begrudge him that he wanted to stay...

Finally, it happened! Great for Rangers, their offense is now scary af.
For the Hawks, at least they got something, they were in a losing position anyway.

Fan - This royally pisses me off. That's next to nothing!
Same Fan - Kane retired a Hawk. He walked away, we got nothing for him and he's a selfish jerk for not waiving his NMC so we could at least get SOMETHING for our rebuild

grin
Luckily most GMs make the best moves they can for the team. Not to appease the internet. Good job by them realizing that it was this or literally NOTHING.

Honestly i thought they’d have to give up someone from their active roster.

Just b/c they got Kane for a steal dissent mean the trade will work out for them. I don't see him as a good fit whatsoever and he's a redundancy on the PP. I also think the Rangers missed an opportunity to bolster their team defense, particularly among their forwards. C-
