Description
if canucks trade pettersson i would bet they want high end roster pieces coming back. tkachuk trade would be the best comp

my best guess about what the canucks would look for if they trade pettersson this offseason. basically, they need an elite piece coming back. likely that would be a winger, since i dont think any team out there wants to trade their first line centre for a different first line centre.

then there would need to be another complimentary piece included as well to offset value differences

Yah no... Jarvis+Svech is insane for the Hurricanes. It creates a massive hole in the lineup

Some of these are comicals overpays. You want 2 top six pieces and a borderline blue-chip prospect for a player that won't sign long term? No. Hell, You're asking for MARNER + (and I think Marner's overrated on here) but he's arguably the better player!

I dont even nessisarily disagree on what the Canucks might want, but how does anyone look at the calagry end of the Tkachuk deal and say "let's emulate that"

Canucks should learn from that mistake, not make it themselves

I dont even nessisarily disagree on what the Canucks might want, but how does anyone look at the calagry end of the Tkachuk deal and say "let's emulate that"

Canucks should learn from that mistake, not make it themselves

the tkachuk trade was widely viewed as a win for calgary at the time. hubderdeau having an unprecedented drop off was nearly impossible to see coming.

It was viewed as a win only by idiots. Smarter folks rightly panned it at the time (feel free to see what I said in the trade thread)

incredibly you made the Canes offer without the one guy reported to be available in Necas.

Yah no... Jarvis+Svech is insane for the Hurricanes. It creates a massive hole in the lineup

Why would the habs remotely consider that.

Suzuki has been hanging around the top 30 in scoring while having great defensive metrics and more importantly is signed long term at a sub 8 million contract.

Theres a good chunk of teams that wpuld take suzuki at 7.9 vs petersson at 12ish.

Then you add guhle who immediately would be at worst the canucks 3rd best dman and dach who is a high ceiling player as well.

                  Not remotely close to realistic

mtl is currently 4 or 5 pieces away from competing, a few may already be in the system and up in the few years but trading away 3 of our best young players for a single piece just sets them back farther. If they want him send an offersheet and hope for the best. also those offers are wildly inconsistent.

100% sure they'd take suzuki at 7.9 if it meant keeping Dach and Ghule.

please explain? a team that needs scoring should trade away their number one scorer plus two of their best assets, you subtract more than you gain in this offer. my username isnt "habs should be idiots about their future."

Mikko and byram for petterson and hoglander is an overpay. Mikko to petterson is a lateral move and adding byram to that I feel like we get worse overall. I don’t think we would but there could be a deal for Mikko and petterson value wise us adding a pick since petterson is a center and is more valuable but not byram

i think given age and positional value, pettersson would be higher value than rantenan as a trade piece, seeing as centre is colorados biggest need. im not sure how valuable dumping johansen is but my though was byram + johansenat almost $8 million = hoglander at 1.1 million
