Moving that 4m next year is an underrated part of this deal. Sure its a 1st for walker, which sounds like a lot, but the Avs do two things in this deal which makes it a lot easier to handle.

Pretty fair imo. Walker seems like a great stylistic fit and they save some cap space too. PHI realistically isnt going very far this year so they get a nice pick

Briere is honestly a god. A first for a pending UFA they got for free in the Provorov deal. Pure wizardry

I do really like the fit for Colorado, but Philly wins

And I believe RJ will be going on waivers

Will be interesting. As to me get the deal terminated and go sign with another contender

FLA, BOS, TBL, EDM, VGK, TOR, etc. Go try and get Lord Stanley then get another deal

Walker made no sense when I first heard about it....

Dumping Ryjo for a 1st and getting him on top made way more sense.

Using the dcore depth and new found capspace to get Mittlestadt is the real power move! This deal is just getting the tools to improve the center line.

Really great work by Colorado clearing cap space and getting a good add. Wonder what they've got coming next given that they still have their 2024 1st and cleared roughly 3 million in cap space with this and the Byram trade

The discussions around Walker being worth a 1st seemed fanciful to me, but when that’s paired with ditching the Johansen contract, fair deal.

Fair. Avs get 4 mil of ths books and get a serviceable d-man. Hell considering the likes of Chariot and Savard fetched firsts, I think you could even aruge a slight avs win too tbh

Just waiting for the Middlestadt for Bryam trade to be announced

LOL, what?

Johansen would be crazy to give up all that money.

Flyers give up Walker but add Johansen and 1st. They should still have a good chance to make the playoffs. Well done by Briere.

Hes not getting any younger and Cups sometimes can be once in a lifetime for these guys

Sacrifice some money go have a strong playoffs and win a cup then someone will sign u to another deal anyways

1m x 1 year with one of the teams I mentioned then go do well post season get cup and in offseason 3m deal could happen with ANA or something look what they pay these cup guys

As winning a cup be better than the money as not everyone gets the chance to have it. Lots of players make good money few get to lift Lord Stanley

Great Deal for both sides.

Col loses cap and gets a great d-man.

PHI gets a 1st.

Thought Philly got a fleece until I learned Johansen was apart of it. Fair deal, Philly can retain on Johansen next year and get more assets back.

Johansen is due $8 million for next season on his current deal.

And thats better than winning a Stanley Cup or having a really good shot at it?

If RJ terminates his deal they goes to FLA or another contender on a 1m x 1 year deal has a strong showing in the playoffs or wins a cup then that summer he will get some nice offers again anyways

Bogo didnt have the term but did something similar. Sacrificed money left Buffalo went to TBL won a cup

Lots of players have the chance for money not many for a cup

Top 10 Protected 1st round pick for Walker.

5th round pick for RyJo.

It's as fair as it gets.

Fair deal, Avs dump Johansen and replace him with Mittlestadt while getting Walker who's going to be a perfect fit for them as defensive D-mans are valuable. 5th round pick is the cherry on top.

As for the flyers it's crazy good for them. The Provorov trade was absolutely amazing for them.

I'm loving this deal for Avs. I really like Walker and him as our 3rd pair RHD is massive come playoff matchup time; not to mention shores up an area of weakness to handle injuries (both Makar/Manson have regular trips to IR), with Malinski we now have a 4 deep Right side.

Cant wait for the Torts/ RyJo reunion.

Good move PHI. Johansen has a pittance of a buy-out if they want to go that route.
