Thats likely the real cost for Zegras

Created by: ht42

MTL
  1. Zegras, Trevor
Additional Details:
Everybody..................

1st : Stop with all the mock trade who include one of theses 5 players; Hutson, Ghule, Reinbacher, Mailloux or Xhekaj. The Habs will NOT gonna trade one of theses five players for upgrading their offensive core.

2nd : Anaheim will gonna want a pick who is in the top 10 of the next Draft as a minimum price for get rid of Zegras. Verbeek will NOT gonna accept the WPG pick (even if it's a 1st round pick) because the pick isn't have much value than a pick in the Top 10.

3rd : For thoses who think the Habs need to select a foward that will gonna need minimum 3 years for being NHL ready, have you noticed that the Habs want to rebuilt faster that we can think ? This affirmation is because of the Dach & Newhook trade, and also the fact that Hughes said that Montreal want to trade for another young offensive player. Also, just don't forget that Montreal can't be in a rebuilt processus for the next 3-4 years, because they already have young players right now who will gonna be to old (in my opinion) in 3-4 years (ex : Suzuki).

Imagine not wanting to include someone like Arber Xhekaj to get a skilled player like Trevor Zegras… classic Montreal fan 😂

Drop Barron, Z is not getting 2 1sts + worth of value. Especially not a top 10 pick + a mid 1st round pick valued RHD prospect

We aren’t trading a top 10 pick for Zegras lol. If we do trade our top 10 pick, it’s for Mercer, Necas, Kyrou or any good defensively PPG forward. Any forward in the top 10 will very likely be way better than Zegras. We are building for the future, not to be mid 2-3 years then it’s over and we have to rebuild again

If you use Debrincat as a comparable it would be more like the 2024 1st (top 10 pick) plus a 2nd and a 3rd. No need to include Barron.

Habs should try and trade Anderson and Gallagher I'm offseason too much cap space for little production. They can use that on younger better free agents

He wouldn't. I don't even think he seriously intersted in him. Doesn't fit what we are looking for.

Gally heart of this team and untradable. Anderson will be hard to move so lets just keep him and hope he can bounce back.

I think the third and the seventh are too much but I'll also agree with @ShaneSaw9 -- take out Barron and the seventh and it would be a fair offer.

But you guys don't have to keep worrying about it -- Zegras isn't on the market.

Hasn't it occurred to you Habs fans that the only people posting ACGMs with Zegras-to-Montreal trades are Canadiens stalwarts? It's you guys who want him -- not us Anaheim adherents who want someone different, or want him to be gone.

Xhekaj on ice and every enforcer of the league are all playing like wussies just like Reaves last game. This is why you do not trade him, even for the best player in the league.

I don't want him around Caufield. I think I'm the only one here that is not on the Zegras bandwagon

Same. I mean why don’t you want him around Caufield? Party Bars and etc? Cause if that’s the case Caufield already does this a lot.

I'd trade Caufield if someone offered me the right player!

Wow. That’s an interesting take. I mean generally talking almost every hockey players is like that. The culture is like this. And it’s actually very ****ty. No wonder why we see disgusting story breakout. The sexual assaults the consommation problems the party’s the bars etc. Not everyone has strong values and good hygiene, that’s what separate the elites and good ones. I just hope the management knows this ( they apparently do ) and take care of this. A good team starts with a good culture. ( starting to doubt we have that )

I’m very young, I just hope that if one day I make it to the management level, I could change this because this isn’t okay.

To me, if Caufield is a party-goer like Zegras, I try to get a top 10 25yrs 200ft centerman. I have no issue about the skill, but we need to build a serious culture.

Zegras probably has a little more trade value because of the contract situations and he can play center but not a lot, maybe just 2 1st rd picks one in say 8-10 range and another in the mid 20’s or later but a really spot on assessment by you.

Caufield for Lafreniere? Don’t know if he can handle the media and pressure since he’s from here. Might be a Drouin 2.0.

We appreciate that we have someone across the aisle that understands that Zegras isn't going to be traded away for scraps @ht42 we're all tired of seeing the proposals you are talking about.

Good options to go for. Not sure any of those teams are looking to move those players for picks though or at all for that matter. Good luck in your search though.

Different situation though as OTT had to move DeBrincat as they couldn't afford his next contract. We don't have to move Z. PV even said that GMs came calling after rumours. He didn't actively look to shop the kid. I doubt we'd move Zegras for a top 10 pick and few additional picks. You're basically converting a proven talent into a prospect you hope turns into Zegras + some other prospects with a low chance of success at the NHL. It also delays our rebuild. Pass. Need a proven piece coming along with the picks or, better yet, a proven piece of equivalent age alone.

I think it is a good offer, but I'd pass personally. For me it's Reinbacher+ or Slaf straight up. The rest doesn't really make. We don't need more picks and prospects unless they are highly-touted, fill a need, and close to/in the NHL already.
