Thread: Pesce To CBJ
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gaz</b></div><div>I'm pretty sure Peeke has been shopped around this offseason and in the event of a trade like this, would likely be moved out to a team with minimal NHL-caliber defensemen (ie chicago or anaheim). For Gudbranson, that contract was rough from the moment it was signed and he's either scratched, traded, or bought out in the next year or two would be my guess, whether Columbus trades for another dman or not. CBJ had been in the trade market for another top-4 guy even after they acquired Severson so I'm just looking at a potential marriage between team needs/wants. Especially considering Sillinger would likely start this year in the AHL due to CBJ's lineup currently.</div></div>

Im not sure where you are getting that we were in the market for another defenseman after trading for Severson and Provorov, but we arent. Jiricek is expected to push for a spot soon, as he is too good for the AHL but will likely start down there this season anyway cause we dont have space. Comments from Babs seems like he is expecting Peeke in the lineup this season. Peeke or Boqvist is likely to be moved cause we dont have space for both, but based on Babs comments im guessing that Boqvist is the odd man out. The only thing that we really have been rumored to be interested in is a top 6 C.

I agree Silly could start the season in the AHL, but not cause of the lineup, but cause he struggled last season and could maybe use some time down there to get his game right, but that is to be seen based off of camp.

Thread: 3 Way Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>kous</b></div><div>-Nylander vs Lindholm is debatable but either way does not make a difference in this scenario.
-The Description says both players extend with their new teams so we play wit those rules so Kent Johnston is not out of the question
-I would agree Dube is better than Timmins and the trade needs a tweak here to balance it
-Based on the the return the CBJ are getting you don't keep Jenner because he's a nice guy the fans like.</div></div>

Kent Johnson is out of the question. He just had a better rookie season than Lindholm had in his first 3 years in the league, on one of the worst teams in the league, and is 8 years younger. He should be a top-6 lock for the next 15 years.

And Jenner is totally unavailable, not just because <em>he's a nice guy</em>, which is arrogantly, intentionally ignorant. He's our 1C until Fantilli is ready, and arguably the only top-6 capable center on the roster, on a sweetheart deal he took to stay in Columbus long-term. You just don't replace his value, even if you get another 1C back (at about $4-5M more), and trading him would be the last thing Jarmo does as a GM. You don't recoup the value he has to the franchise in any trade, certainly without asking something unrealistic from the other team. Any CBJ fan will tell you he's totally unavailable, and it's not just because we like him.

I'm just so tired of non-Columbus fans saying our unavailable players are actually, totally, explicitly available, and for <em>way less than you'd think</em>!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dk325</b></div><div>Best case scenario for the Jackets is Elvis and/or Tarasov becoming solid options. They brought in a new HC, new goalie coach, and two top 4 defensive options to try to give them as good of a chance as possible to turn it around. If things don't improve this year then there will be goalie options available next year too that they'll likely pursue.

Why in the world would Tampa be in the market for a goalie when they have Vasilevskiy locked up for 5 more years?

Buffalo are gonna give it a go with the options they have and hope they bridge them to when Levi is ready to take over the starter role if he isn't already.

Florida has $10M locked up in Bobrovsky already. Dunno how they fit anything more than a backup into that situation. Maybe they can send him somewhere next summer when he has to submit his 16 team list instead of having a full NMC, but I imagine that will still be difficult and incredible expensive to do.

Ottawa *just* signed Korpisalo. They're set for now.

Minnesota has a stellar option in Gustavsson. They also don't have the money to spend on more goalies until probably 25-26 when their dead cap situation improves significantly.

Arizona trading away their goalie doesn't make too much sense when they're just starting to bring their team together.

The rest of the teams and goalie options make sense imo.</div></div>

This is my assessment albeit not a well researched one so don't go crazy on me

Min has a future star in Wallstedt almost NHL ready, so I’m curious if they shop Fleury or Gustavsson for a nice haul or do they stay patient.

Calgary has Wolf who will be starter by seasons end IMO
They need to move one of their vets.

Arizona could use a better option in net.

Anaheim needs to move Gibson and figure out their future.

Sharks &amp; Chicago aren’t in the market for a vet net-minder… yet they are too early in their rebuilds.

Florida needs to figure out Knight. And I’d Bobby back or is he washed up.

LA needs a legit starter but have no cap space.

Seattle Vancouver Columbus either need their starters to rebound or search for new options.

Montreal and Toronto and Ottawa need to figure out if their long term answer is in house or trade/ sign one.

Carolina needs to start looking for Anderson replacement soon here.

Vegas needs to do something about Lehner and hope Hill wasn’t a fluke.

Colorado is still not 100% Georgiev is the future but last year looked really good.

Philly and Winnipeg need to resign their guys or move them and start over.

St. Louis has issues and could use a fresh start.

Edmonton has a good young guy but an albatross vet that could be one of the worst signings in a while.

Only teams set at goalie that don’t need to move a guy or add are: Boston,Tampa, NYR, NYI, Nashville, Dallas.
