Granato
That might be true, but It is time for Granato to move on. The team needs to shake up their routine and bring intensity to their practice sessions — no more messing around. Even Mittelstadt noticed how hard and fast teams like Colorado go, not just in games but in practices too. It's telling when a young player's insight overshadows the coach's. Perhaps Granato would be better off returning to development roles. It’s been too long since any player was benched for underperforming. And the assistant coaches? They have to fix that failing power play. It’s frustrating to watch the team hammer away with shot after shot, yet barely score. We have the player talent; now it's time for the coaches to meet that level.

Bogosian is not a goon. He aspires to be, but he's far from being a goon.
Nice lineup otherwise.

But as for forward position - I think it will be between Savoie or Rousek. Kulich and Rosen should remain in the AHL and dominate there.</div></div>
For the offense, I'd prefer Kulich over Olofsson. Kulich possesses an equally impressive shot, but I believe he can cover the entire ice more effectively than Olofsson. The line combinations look solid. The middle six appear flexible, and honestly, even the top nine seem interchangeable. It might be a good idea to occasionally let Krebs move up and have Jost take on the role of the 4th line center. Who he replaces is who ever is having a bad couple of games.
On defense, it might be beneficial to give Johnston a taste of the NHL. However, he should gain some experience and hone his skills in the AHL for the majority of the year.

I like it. you could include Novikov on the back end. 1 year in the AHL and he should be ready. Johnson or Novikov.

So both of you are right. Sabres are not interested in a long term goalie (even 5 years). Maybe 2. With that said, I think AntiAnalytics makes the most sense. He will be a UFA, the salary cap will be about 5 million more and he can pick where he goes..The Jets have no pull here.

Quoting: AntiAnalytics
Ok, but then why would he agree to that extension NOW ?
It takes away his options to see which places will give him offers, and if any will offer more $$ or term
Makes no sense for him to agree to that now,
unless the Sabres are his first choice
Got any reason to think we are his first choice?

Drive the chevy to the Levi until the Levi goes dry
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>leafs101</b></div><div>Saying Clifton is better is hilarious, Brodie has been our most sound defender for years now but alrighty. And no all those other players dont have comparable stats, if you look at the defensive advanced stats it’s not close.</div></div>
Brodie might be the leafts most "sound"defender but stats don't lie:
In this comparison between Clifton from Boston (BOS) and Brodie from Toronto (TOR) based on their 2022-23 NHL season metrics, it appears that Clifton has slightly better stats overall.
Here's a breakdown:
Corsi (All): Clifton has a higher Corsi For Percentage (CF%) at 46.7% compared to Brodie's 45.8%. This means Clifton's team had a slightly higher percentage of the total shot attempts when he was on the ice.
Fenwick (All): Clifton again has a higher Fenwick For Percentage (FF%) at 46.8% versus Brodie's 46.9%, indicating his team had a slight edge in unblocked shot attempts during his shifts.
PDO (All): Clifton's PDO is higher at 103.1 compared to Brodie's 99.2. PDO is the sum of a player's on-ice shooting percentage and on-ice save percentage. A PDO over 100, like Clifton's, typically indicates that a player has been on the "lucky" side of variance, while a PDO below 100, like Brodie's, can be seen as "unlucky."
Zone Starts (All): Clifton started a higher percentage of his shifts in the offensive zone (oZS%) at 46.8% compared to Brodie's 43%.
So yeah, Clifton is better and younger to boot.

Exchanges at a glance
Why would the Sabres make such a move? Lyubushkin, who currently holds a third-line grinder position, and Bryson, a reserve for any high-scoring defensive player, are both essential components to the team. Petry, although formerly a scoring defenseman, is aging and his scoring prowess is waning. Ruhwedel, on the other hand, is a remnant of the Sabres' less successful days.
If the intention is to free up some salary cap space, it would be more beneficial to negotiate a deal with Arizona. Given these reasons, the Sabres would likely reject this proposition.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>leafs101</b></div><div>I think you've grossly underestimated Brodie because of some bogus buyout suggestions. Only reason it was ever suggested is because he has a $0 buyout hit against this season, and with Murray on LTIR it's all but confirmed he's going nowhere short of an overpay via trade market or a massive massive trade by Treliving. He's a very effective defensive top 4 D, the fact that you have us paying to get rid of him AND you have a guy who would undoubtedly be in this top 4 sitting in the press box is utterly laughable. Leafs quite easily decline.</div></div>
Brodie is a decent but not among the top 4 defensemen on a strong team, let alone the Sabres.
The top 4 defensemen for the Sabres are Dahlin, Samuelsson, Clifton, and Powers.
Brodie would likely be a substitute player if any of these top 4 defensemen were injured. Additionally, the Sabres also have Johnson, Lyubushkin, and Bryson, all of whom have comparable statistics. So I could see Brodie sitting or on the 3rd line if he was on the sabres.
Regarding placing Murray on LTIR, I find it frustrating that this league allows teams to exploit the LTIR provision for "injured" players. It's time to reconsider the rules to prevent teams from bending or even cheating the system. Whatever happened to integrity and honesty, both in the workplace and in life? It's essential to uphold fair play and transparency.

Tuch for Tavares straight up. I might even argue a second goes to buffalo for the cap hit that they have to take on for an aging player that Tavares is.

Matt Dumba. No trade just pay the kid some money for 3 years. The russians, Novikov or Komarov should be ready to move into his spot in 3 years.

for the sabres trade, I wouldn't include a first round pick in this trade nor would I include any of the picks. Mittelstadt is about a 10 to 15 point difference between DeBrincat. Plus the salary expectations are way different. I dont think the sabres can afford him long term. So it is a pass for me.

If the sabres are retaining salary then it should be a 2nd otherwise maybe a third. His only real value is on the PP.

Buffalo Sabres signed Kyle Okposo (1 Year / $3,000,000 AAV)
So that means only 1 spot is up for grabs. I would have like to seen two, I would say anyone in this list could play better than Okposo: kulich,Savoie,Murphy,Savoie,Rousek,Rosen,Kozak. Maybe Olofsson is traded and that frees up a player that can score and play defense.

Buffalo declines. Here's why, Guentzel only has 1 year left on his contract and that is pretty much it. There is also the fact that Rosen was a first round pick, He is scoring left and right on the power play in the AHL. You might be able to trade Guentzel during the year and get a first, if you hold some salary.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BUFF36</b></div><div>Okposo is expendable without bringing in another winger</div></div>
He is replaceable, but we need to sign a veteran winger to take his place. If the Sabres choose not to re-sign Gergensons and Okposo, it's important to bring in at least one experienced winger. Sabre fans would be thrilled to have a local player from Western NY on the team. The Townhouse would be packed every sabres game.. We shouldn't rely on two 19/20 year olds alone to fill the gap left by the departing veterans.

I would give LA a 2nd and future 3rd for Iafallo, Not sure I would resign Okposo if I make this trade. Okposo looked so slow the last half of the year. Bringing in a vet winger, makes Okposo expendable.
