Marner To Colorado

Created by: AnalyticsGeek
Team: 2021-22 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 22, 2020
Published: Jun. 22, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Personally, I doubt Colorado is a good fit for Marner cuz they have so many guys on ELCs requiring new contracts, but the chemistry between Marner & Kadri when they were in Toronto was unmistakeable, so I shall make Colorado the next destination of my Marner trade series.

Kamenev is a talented forward who would fit in well in Toronto. O’Connor is an excellent prospect & you’re getting a 1st on top of that.

I really hope this is a long con troll account because the justifications are as bad as the trades and the trades are grade A laughing stock material

I’m not sure if you’re aware, but it’s unlikely for the Leafs to get full value if they trade Marner. Only playoff teams would be interested in acquiring him & due to his large cap hit, that deflates his value. Even at 9 Million is a lot of money. If you trade him to a rebuilding team, they won’t want to give up future assets.

That logic makes no sense at all. Based on that logic Eichel won't get a return either and Neither would Matthews.

That’s some good stuff your smoking. Byram isn’t going anywhere unless Sakic wants to add another elite 1C. It isn’t often a good team gets a top 4 pick, but hitting on those picks give you the chance to win multiple cups. Throwing away a 1st pairing dman, and a 50pt wing for a ppg wing on a $9M per yr contract, is just bad asset management.

Burakovsky probably get's 5.5M on his next deal. Sure you can wait for Byram or you can go for the cup now while MacKinnon is still on a cheap contract.

Notice that teams that buy often give up more in value than the teams that sell.

If you had to give up a player right now would you rather give up Burakovsky and Byram or Rantanen? (Marner is better than Rantanen)

Just because you don’t like the trades doesn’t make me a troll. You always overvalue your players & try to get ridiculous value for them.

According to who? I’ll take the 6’4 220lb forward who has better possession numbers, more goals scored, and who was a beast in the playoffs last year.

ah yes, that time honored player value tool known as winning a playoff round. Good try, good effort.

Yeah I’ll take the 50 pt big forward who can skate and the young #1 dman on an elc over a $9M forward and use the change I saved in cap space on another player. But we can always revisit the Barrie Kadri trade for asset management if you like.

    Counter offer:

Bracco, Malgin, Johnsson and a 1st for Rantanen

That basically what he’s offering here.

To be fair, this trade is missing Bowen Byram.

ok, a 3c and a 2-3 offensive d with 50% retained for a 2c when you have 2 1c's, Sounds like good asset management to me.
Ill take the 90+ point 22 year old winger who is just about to enter his peak over the fading top pairing guy late 1st and 2nd line winger that my team doesnt need

Rantanen is bigger that's something he's got on Marner. But Marner's defensive play and points are higher than Rantanen every season. Rantanen gets carried by MacKinnon.

I'd take Marner over Rantanen any day of the week.

Sharks are not paying a 1st for Francouz. Thats laughable at best. We’ll get a better goalie in ufa and keep our pick.

Horrid Marner trade for the Leafs. Getting back the very ordinary 6m Johnston. The purpose of a Marner trade would either trade for equal on ice value or to get lots of cap space.

Every season huh, so in 17-18 when Rantanen scored 15 more pts, is every season? Or the 16 more goals Rantanen has was him getting carried by MacKinnon. Yeah you’re 100% right.🤷‍♂️

They are very similar quality players. Could go either way if you are looking a talent alone - but with contracts taken into consideration I bet most GMs would rather have Rantanen at 9.25 over Marner at 10.893. I think both teams would decline a 1 for 1 deal though due to chemistry both players have with their teams already

Oh so you want Marner in Colorado? Alright, Makar goes the other way or package of 1st, conditional 2nd, Newhook and Johnson goes the other way.
