SJS can eat up salary easily; its just hard when (I edited my comment with his confirmed lines per dobber) hes been buried on the 3rd-4th line with the expecation of carrying those lines. Which isn't Labancs strength. He isnt a driving piece - and there are ton of players like that in the league. Yet he's being asked to provide offence with 2 rookies, Nieto - Bonino (before Bonino got a single point in nearly 15 games), and Cogs a def. vet.

Labanc isn't a bonafide top 6 winger but hes a useful piece with 2nd line upside who just hasn't been put in a position to succeed. I do think Labanc could be moved in this month tho.

I agree - they play the guys they respect the most instead of players that give their teams the best chance to win. It’s bad for the sport. I would love if Trotz gets fired at the end of the season. The isles aren’t making the playoffs so might as well let Trotz unintentionally tank by playing Chara 20 min every game.

Oh no doubt, which team I could see him on I'm having trouble seeing. Rangers sure but they would need retention as next year gets real tight for them against the cap.

Lol I don’t think Calgary is gonna trade Zary unless we get a top six centre with term (Hertl???). He’s poised to be our long term 2C, which is a pretty big hole for us. But our 1st this year is fair game (although is Labanc worth that right now? His contract is kinda big for the impact he’s providing, presumably this would be a kind of buy low).

If Price isn't available I don't see how they leave off Kuemper. He's got the most international experience out of all Canadian goaltenders outside of Price and MAF.

Barzal's falling is tough to watch, thats gonna eat him up I'd say in the coming months if he keeps trending down

Even with former top 15 F locks Barzal and Scheifele falling off a cliff (although Scheifele has started to rebound in the last week), I don’t think the fringe guys like Mangiapane/Hyman/Wilson/Cirelli have that good of a chance. Like the best they could grab (without injuries) is 14th forward imo.
