I feel like if Jiricek is gone, Savoie would be our best bet at 6, but Cutter at 12? I feel like we'd end up taking Seamus Casey there if he's available.

Cutter goes higher than 12. I see Casey or Mateychuk or Mintyukov or Korchinski if they wanna take a D.

Wouldn't be so sure. Gauthier projects to go in the 11-15 range and not one of the major scouting sources has him higher than 12th (except for Craig Button, Sportsnet and NHL central scouting but we all know how credible they are).

I want the Habs to sign Evander Kane so bad. I don't care about his off-ice issues tbh he'd just be perfect with Suzuki & Caufield.

Nice list!

Slafkovsky and Lekkerimäki are going to be problems at the NHL level.

That’s what they all say… until Meier becomes a all star once Kane leaves.

Haha but Kane should stay in EDM. He’s on pace for 40 goals in a shortened season.

Not sure that's a great line combo imo. We also have a huge winger logjam ( yes, i know Armia, Hoffman, Byron might be gone )

His GM is also Holland. He'll get 8x8 in the offseason

Anderson was very good with them at the beginning. So good to give Caufield space in the o-zone. But him being Josh Anderson, he inevitably lacked consistency to keep up with them. Kane could be that, but with the consistency.

Josh Anderson saw this and got a point with Team Canada

Pronman has Gauthier at 6 and Bultman drafted him at 8 in the Athletic’s mock draft. Whoever drafted for Anaheim (no name was referenced, not sure who their beat writer is or if he maybe got replaced for this exercise) said that he’d be a target for Anaheim as well. I think it’s pretty likely he goes top 10 because he’s big, can skate, can shoot, and perhaps most importantly, can play centre, and I think a lot of teams would draft him with the hopes of him developing as a pivot (although a big, fast sniper is appealing even as a winger). I think some teams see Savoie as an NHL winger due to his size, but that won’t be an issue with Gauthier if they see him as a centre (it’s also why I think Geekie will end up going higher than he maybe should, and why Nazar and Kasper will probably be off the board by the mid-teens). He also had a strong finish, and lots of teams prefer guys on the rise (perhaps unfortunately, Ottawa seems like exactly the type of team that would draft Gauthier if the past couple drafts are any indication, as we almost exclusively drafted late risers, guys with size, and good skaters lol).

Nope. Much bigger and more potential to be a star.

Their games have similar strong points though.

i think skinner had that potential when he was with the canes as well. those were some bad bad bad canes teams he was on dont forget about that. 3x 30 goal scorer and 2x 60 point player in his first 6 years in nhl.

looking at laine hes at the same path he was on pace for his 4th this year he had better stats with the jets but he also had much more to work with.
327 in 407 with 176 goals for laine vs 330 in 497 with 180 goals for skinner.

i agree i think laine has a higher ceiling but in terms of player and like work ethic and all that idk he just SCREAMS skinner.

Can’t see the isles passing up the opportunity to select Yurov or Lambert.

I can. Both of them are subject to drop. And I don't think Lamoriello is a huge Europe enthusiast.

LL loves Russians and his last two top picks are from Europe (Raty and Simon Holmstrom).

Is korchinski even expected to go in the top 15. He has some nice tools but he has questionable hockey IQ. Players like him should go at the end of the 1st rd at best
