I apologize but if you think McDonagh hasn't played top pair quality minutes you're either not watching ,not good at evaluating , flat out wrong, or purposefully lying.

Oh I've been watching, and he hasn't been a top pair caliber defender at least as far back as the 19-20 season. Now what could you be apologizing for?

Tampa's cap issues seem to be catching up to them. Now taking on a 2.5m ahl Dman they hope to rehab. Preds win this trade in a landslide.

So curious how they got him to waive his NTC...
Like seriously its weird how its so easy for some teams to move guys with NTC's but some are impossible.

Playoff team with no taxes. Ntc is not an nmc... could have gave him the bus option.

You are right, if Palat wanna play the UFA market game. I would find that surprising though. Would would wanna leave TB right now?

6.5-7.5 per or so for 5 years he can make

This TB ownership group doesn't pull that chump a$$ BS which is one reason guys willingly give back by waiving

Stud? Hes in decline and has a terrible contract that projects to likely fall off badly lmao.

There is no stud in this trade. NSH got fleeced

I feel nobody really won in the end

As not Nashville has a nice top 4 Dman who can take on tough defensive responsibilities while Tampa got cap space and Myers who is gonna rebound its destiny at this point

Kind of annoyed this happened as now were gonna get spammed with

So Tampa moved McDonagh lets have Toronto move Muzzin without realizing these 2 situations aint the same

Toronto has no need to move Muzzin and actually needs Muzzin as if he goes we got nobody to clear bodies in front of the net or lay out monster hits

While Tampa needed to clear cap space for Palat and prepare for 3 big extensions so it made sense to move him

Excuse me, but if you had any sense of decency as a human being, you wouldn't be throwing that word around to begin with on this forum

Brisebois saying this kinda has a point. McDonagh's performance at least right now is enough to warrant at least close to the amount he's earning now, but circumstance forced them to move on from McDonagh.

NSH saves themselves from offering such contract to a pylon like Chiarot and get themselves some actual quality with pretty much no cost. I can't see how this is a L for them either.

Because they're taking on 4 years. If he had two years it would be a win

McDonough in 2022 isn't the nyr McDonough. That contract is an anchor and likely to get worse. Players value includes the contract and his should have been negative. He isn't worth 6.75 today and it's likely just going to look worse and worse as the years go on

Just going to make the observation that I don't think I've ever seen a more evenly divided vote on a trade than this one before.

If he had two years he would have had quite a bit more value than a likely buyout and low-end prospect.

Hard to see McDonagh go, but it's the right time to free up cap space and not having to add something to take on his contract, that will likely look ugly very soon.

Obviously the problem for Tampa now is filling the blanks, and Sergy will need to step it up for the Dcore to be strong.
I'm not gonna lie, I like Myers potential. When he was in Philly he looked very promising but died out in Nashville. As JBB said he has the right toolbox, maybe a change of scenery is what he needs? We'll see.

But at this point, anybody doubting JBB moves hasn't been paying attention. He knows what he's doing.

As long as it keeps benefitting them, they'll do it.
I expect every GM would rather help out their team at a significant discount than not improve their team for the sake of hurting another team

Exactly what @KSIxSkulls said

Teams aren't gonna avoid a trade just because it helps another team
Nashville saw a quality defensemen on the trade block for cheap and took advantage. They don't care about how it affects Tampa. Nashville cares about helping themselves

So apparently if McDonagh didnt agree to this trade he was gonna get waived and be claimed by the CBJ

Interesting

Tampa got the good years of McDonagh's and then traded him away for assets. Hard not to say that Tampa wins here.
