OK, I'm going to sleep. Congrats Czechs. I'll forgive you for this if you smash Canada.

Good night all.

Oh I love an upset - what a game by Czechia.

Like Hughes with the classic no look pass with an empty net. Ouch that hurt to watch.

The mark of a true captain-influencing the younger players, no wonder Trouba wears the C.

I will say this now that I fully rechecked it

USA's coaching and med staff should be ashamed of themselves putting Hughes out time after time with that LBI he suffered

Like when you got the announcers and other guys going why the **** is he still out you know there is a problem heck I saw first hand what that injury was doing to him and the while I give him credit for trying my guy should have said I cant

Better not see that again as even if he says he is fine after watching the shifts after the injury it should have been pretty clear he should not have been out there and I just hope he didnt make whatever he had worse

Totally agree. The culture of gritting through injuries has gone WAY too far in hockey. Not only should he likely not have been playing for health reasons (like has there been an update yet? I won’t be surprised if he misses several weeks/months), but he was objectively terrible. Overcompensating for a literal pylon caused the USA to lose a game they could have easily still won without Hughes. Playing literally anybody over him would have been better, and they get to run 7 D anyway so they still have 3 pairs without him. Not to mention he completely just gave away the puck that led to the empty netter that sealed it. Also this:

Made me lose a lot of respect for Nate Leaman. I used to think he’d be a good candidate to crack the NHL and inject some new life into the coaching mix. Turns out he’s just another old boys club guy unfortunately. If Luke Hughes was a horse, he would’ve been shot and turned into glue. Nate Leaman just didn’t have the balls to tell a “leader” that he was less useful than the guys in the press box in that condition.

What the f*ck is this. Why is Canada deliberately trying to lose. Dufour and Roy with McTavish? Bedard on line 3 with f*cking Gaucher and Cuylle? Someone shoot me so I don’t have to watch this tomorrow.

Holy sh*t this is really bad.

Why is Gaucher even playing let alone on the 3rd line, with Bedard??? He’s worst than Desnoyers (who’s basically Comeau 2.0). If you’re worst than Comeau, you f*cking suck.

And then to add insult to injury you play Bedard with Cuylle, who as of rn only cares about getting suspended.

Poor Othmann, he should be playing way higher in the lineup than he is. He’s miles better than both bums who’re with Bedard on the 3rd line.

Desnoyer is the second-best player of all time behind Gerry Mayhew. Othmann must have spit in someone's Cheerios

I feel like Roy and Dufour have been kinda meh for most of the Tourney. Haven't really noticed Roy much. Bedard has struggled a bit too after a Hot start. Othmann should be playing on the first line.

We've never had much of a struggle at the tournament so I don't think anybody's had a great game or a bad game. The one player I have noticed that did a complete 180 is Zellwegar. He's easily our best defender night in and night out. He was terrible to start, but he's looking very good now.

Bedard on the 3rd is obviously a reach for making Canada harder to manage.

McTavish could carry a line by himself, and the 2nd line has like 80 scoring chances from Kent Johnson alone. So to me; Canada wants to get Bedard going again and the Czechs showed they can push teams - Czechia was able to dominate the US and push them around in areas near both nets and had some great speed. They probably don’t want Bedard and McTavish to be targeted at the same time as McTavish ain’t small so he’s already going to be game planned against. Throwing the smaller Bedard against hopefully lower TOI rivals will allow him to thrive, so they’re trying to spread out their fire power.
