I don't think there is a way of fixing it. Once the NHL expanded beyond 16 teams, I don't think it worked anymore. I always liked the idea of every team being represented (fans of these bad teams, who are often struggling attendance wise too and want something to cheer), but that also means that some stars are left home.
Now with 32 teams, only 8 could supply multiple players. Now, 44 players attend. I might think 4 on 4 would be better and let 12 players per Division. Also, have a consolation final just to have an extra game.

Nobody, outside of their respective fanbases) wants to see the likes of Seth Jones, Brock Nelson, Troy Terry, Naz Kadri, Kevin Hayes, etc... They're nice guys, I'm sure. Why don't the Panthers utilize Miami Vice colors in any capacity? I get it's a little overdone, but those neon pinks and blues work so well, especially against black jerseys. The Atlantic Allstar jerseys are some of my favourite. Absolutely love them and it's a shame they aren't a more permanent fixture in the NHL.

Call me crazy, but I think they should just go back to Eastern Conference vs. Western Conference. The 25 best players from each conference (22 skaters, 3 goalies) are all stars, regardless of team. Problem solved.

Maybe have a prospects game as well, along with the actual skills challenges that they used to have instead of trying to come up with the dumbest things for the all stars to do instead.

Didn't mind the fantasy draft either. I'd love if they took winners from each individual teams all star game's competition and put them against each other. (Byron in fastest skater for example). Have the actual best player in that certain area compete against other players in that area.
