We haven't seen Griers group draft yet so I can't really excited one way or the other

Bystedt looks great. Lund looks good. Havelid looks good . Hopefully they get Carlsson , Michkov or Fantilli

I think what's maybe been lost in the 32-pages of the "Timo trade" TM = that right now, 110%, he's a RENTAL...

all signs point to it was Marchment (who died)/ Wilson Jr.s draft - the consenus amongst bay area is that it was still Wilson Jr's class. Grier didn't even have a staff together.

With RFA control at the end of the deal. Not really a rental. One with an exclusive bargaining window at the very least

He has RFA expiry. He's technically not a rental unless NJ decides not to tender him. He'll likely get resigned

Is Fitzy so frickin scared to lose to the Rags in the 1st rd just get baited into a terrible value deal like that.
In 3-4 years when Meier hits 30, tailing off and not providing value on his contract any longer the Devils are gonna massively regret this move.

Golly. We just added a top winger, who purportedly wants to be in NJ, for a handful of guys who were on the fringe of our long-term roster. Glass half full (glass three-quarters full).

There's still the matter of Meier's extension to figure out.
The Devils still have every opportunity to get fcuked twice on this Meier acquistion, be it by Meier nabbing that 10m QO and walking after it or leveraging a disgustingly pricey contract out of the Devils.

By 2029 this team is gonna get slower, bloated, kinda old and not have any cap flexibility whatsoever.
If Timo Meier doesn't give us a dynasty in the 20s, this trade will not have been worth it at all.
